Then we have the perfect excursion for you! This private, premium excursion is for those who want personalized service, the ability to make their own choices, and the desire to really see the tropical island of Cozumel on their own terms. Enjoy the beautiful sunset over your lobster dinner! Choose buggy or Jeep, drive your own vehicle, check out the local highlights, snorkel in crystal clear waters, and end your day watching the sun set while you enjoy a fabulous lobster dinner.
Your day will begin right at your cruise ship pier or resort where your friendly, English speaking guide will meet you. Your guide will go over the possible stops and you can choose your own itinerary then, or just wing it as you go along. Then you'll be shown to your reserved vehicle - you can order the open air fun dune buggy or a Jeep. The buggies are standard stick shift only but the Jeeps are available in either standard or automatic. You must indicate on your order if you want an automatic Jeep, otherwise it will be stick shift. Whichever you choose, it will have a cooler with ice cold Sol or Corona beer, bottled water, and soft drinks. There is a minimum of 4 participants, or pay the difference (if just 2 adults than you can purchase two spaces at the children's rate). PLEASE NOTE THAT GUESTS MUST INDICATE IF THEY PREFER A JEEP AND IF THEY NEED IT AUTOMATIC.
Once your selections for stops have been made then follow your guide through town, over to the transversal roas that leads to the "other" side of the island. Your first stop will be for a tequila tasting where you will learn about the process of growing, harvesting and distilling Mexico's most famous liquid. There will also be a tequila tasting for those who are ages 18 years and older. You will spend about 45 minutes here.
Then head for the wild side of the island, the east coast where you'll find a few small beach clubs and wild open views of the deep turquoise blue Caribbean. Drive along the coast with the warm salty air brushing against your face; you are welcome to stop for photos if you'd like. This side of the island has all the beauty one should expect when visiting a tropical island, but many areas remain almost completely isolated. Note that only approximately 13% of Cozumel Island has been developed and you will be seeing some of it's prettiest undeveloped natural beauty.
A guests top rated stop is Coconuts. This is a famous beach club located on the highest point on the island...all 41 feet/10.7 meters above sea level! A fun atmosphere, great music, and all with unparalleled views that include miles of sandy beach, beautiful water and waves. They also have a staff that is eager to make your stay memorable. You are welcome to sit and purchase a snack or beverage or maybe just enjoy a brief photo op.
Other possibilities on the east side include the San Martin Beach club, Punta Moreno, Playa Bonita, or Rastas, all clubs with their own ambiance and your guide can explain the differences, if you'd like. You can visit any, or none, the choice is yours with time allowing.
A stop at the natural rock bridge, Mirador (formed by coral and the pounding waves) is always a guest favorite, too.
You also have the chance to stop at El Cedral, a colorful, and historic town in the middle of the island where you can see how the locals live away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist locations. This was the first settlement on the island. It is home to the first Catholic church which is right next to a small Mayan ruin.
Remember, where you stop, and for how long, is up to you.
Your final stop is Varadero's Beach Restaurant where you will enjoy a guided snorkel over the second largest reef in the world in a Marine Park protected area. All snorkeling gear will be provided and you will have a guide accompany you to point out the tropical marine life you might miss otherwise. Your guide will have you back to shore after approximately 35 minutes. Of course, although the guided snorkel is included, guests may decide to skip it.
And we saved the best for last. As the day draws to an end, you will enjoy a lobster dinner while taking in the sunset. There are other choices as well such as grilled mahi mahi, grilled shrimp, surf and turf, and even an option for vegetarian, vegans and children. Please note any other special dietary needs on your order form. Your dinner choice is included, however, drinks will be at the customer's expense. There is a full bar for any beverage purchases. Then, once your fabulous dinner is finished, you have the option to drive back to your Cozumel cruise ship pier (or resort) or you may choose to stay and enjoy the beach club longer and return to your Cozumel ship/resort at your leisure and expense later.
