Escape from the cruise ship sponsored shore excursion crowds of Haines to the stunning scenery of the Chilkat Valley. Upon arrival in Haines, you will meet your professional photographer excursion guide at the cruise pier. Your guide will spend the day helping you capture the best photos of the Chilkat Valley's unique attractions. After a brief introduction and time to learn the different levels of photography experience that each shore excursion guest has, you will set off to capture incredible shots.
No two Haines Photography Cruise Excursions are alike. Depending on the time of year and weather conditions the day of your excursion, your photography guide will select his favorite locations and provide you with ample time to set up the best shots. Your professional photographer/guide will have previously scouted out the best areas for the day's photo shoot. May, June, and July feature wildflowers and eagles. Beginning in August, due to the pink salmon starting to spawn, the opportunity to see brown bear feeding along the banks of the river increases. When bears are present, every effort will be made to give you safe bear viewing and photography. A break will be taken midday for a complimentary box lunch.
The theme of this Photography Cruise Excursion in Haines is flexibility, fun and learning rather than adherence to a rigid schedule. Participants must provide all photographic equipment; experience in photography is not necessary. Even a simple point-and-shoot camera will work, but by all means, bring all your photo gear. This will be a great time to learn what your camera can do, and then actually try it out right there on the spot.
All too soon, you will drive back to Haines, but the shore excursion is not over. The scenery is constantly changing regardless which route you take. Although wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed, there is always the potential of wildlife or marine life sightings, so keep your eyes open.
We took our daughter to this excursion since she wants to become a professional photographer, we taught it was a good idea for her to start learning more about photos while capturing mindblowing landscapes. Our group was small, just 4 people; our guide was very knowledgeable and took us to amazing locations.
