Your shore excursion captain and onboard naturalist will welcome you aboard The North Star, a state-of-the-art 48-passenger jet boat designed for Juneau whale watching from inside or out on deck. More than 60 humpback whales return from Hawaii to this area each season to feed in the nutrient-rich waters. The Gold Creek Salmon Bake is more than a meal. It is the ultimate Alaska experience with great food, live music, and fun activities like gold panning, marshmallow roasting, and a nature walk, set in a rain forest alongside Salmon Creek. Here you will dine on Alaskan-caught salmon grilled over an open alder wood fire. In addition, there is Parmesan chicken, cheesy au gratin potatoes, baked beans with reindeer sausage, wild rice pilaf, cornbread, clam chowder, and other sides, salads and beverages and blueberry cake for dessert. Beer, wine and soda are available for purchase. If this is your last stop, transfer buses run regularly to take you back to the cruise pier.

Not your everyday experience
The name says it all, this was definitely the best of Juneau. We felt like a true Alaskan for a day and we got to visit some of Juneau's most famous locations. The whale watching was the most impressive. The adrenaline of seeing such large mammals is not your everyday experience. It was so exciting to see them so close but we also learn about them and how important they are to our ecosystem. To end our exciting day we enjoyed an outdoor buffet and got to sit down, enjoy nature and met some great people.

The most perfect day
Ideal for our day in Juneau and for families, we took our children, 8 and 10 years, who were so excited by going in this excursion since we booked it 6 months in advance. We met Spencer who was our guide right at the cruise terminal, since the beginning of the excursion he was very nice, great with kids! The salmon bake is a beautiful tradition, everyone seems to be having a wonderful time. Growing up you get a fantasy image of Alaska and its rugged beauty...we were not disappointed. The scenery is just amazing.
