A great way to see, smell, touch and even taste the wonders of Maui! This exclusive small group half day cruise excursion will immerse you in the real every day Kahului Maui, Hawaii.

Departing Kahului, your small sightseeing shore excursion group will pass the Puunene sugar mill which is located just outside of town. Hawaii cultivated sugarcane for over 1,000 years and this is the last working sugar mill in the State of Hawaii.

A short 20-minute drive further east is the Ho`okipa Beach Park lookout where a photo stop will be made at the windsurfing capital of Maui. Keep your eyes open for Hawaiian sea turtles playing in the surf.

Heading inland, your Kahului sightseeing shore excursion transportation will pass through the historical old sugar town of Paia. Your excursion guide will point out the sugar mill ruins and the old train station that is now a small shopping center.

Pineapple was another large industry until sky-rocketing costs pushed it out of competition in the 1980s. If not for Maui's Winery in Ulupalakua, the pineapple might be gone from Maui. The winery farms 1,200 acres (486 hectares) growing the Maui Gold pineapple. The harvest is used in making their pineapple wines and sold to local markets and restaurants. As you travel through Pineapple country, your guide will entertain you with stories of the mills and pineapple camps that once dotted the hillside.

Driving to an elevation of approximately 4,000 feet (1219 meters), your small group will stop for tea, coffee, and scones at the Ali`i Kula Lavender Farm. Then take a walk through rows of proteas (sugarbush), olive trees, hydrangea and over 45 varieties of lavender. A short time for shopping is included.

A 30-minute scenic drive brings you to the 20,000 acre (8093 hectares) Ulupalakua Ranch, and it's store and winery. You will hear the 150-year history of the ranch and have the opportunity to sample pineapple or grape-based wines in the King's Cottage. Then it is time for a freshly made lunch at the famous Ranch Store restaurant where you will be able to choose from a burger made with fresh ranch beef, lamb or locally grown Taro (vegetarian).

After lunch, a photo stop will be made at the Kula Country Farms where you can see, smell and touch some of the local fresh products. Then it is approximately 30 minutes downhill and back to your cruise ship pier in Kahului.

Please note: On Mondays, the Kula County Farm is closed.

Excursion Notes

• A minimum of 4 guests are required for the excursion to operate.
  
• A light jacket and long pants are suggested for cooler temperatures at the higher elevations.
• Sensible, rubber-soled walking shoes are strongly recommended - no flipflops.
• We suggest you have cash on hand for refreshments, excursion staff gratuities, shopping, etc.
• Please pay attention to restrictions and requirements for this excursion, no refund will be granted if requirements are not met.
• On Mondays, the Kula County Farm is closed.
  

Where we meet

For the Kahului Maui Island Highlights Sightseeing Adventure Excursion, you will meet your local shore excursion guide ashore outside your Kahului Maui cruise ship pier. All necessary details will be printed on your Electronic Shore Excursion Ticket.

Excursion Restrictions

• This excursion is not wheelchair accessible or suitable for guests with mobility issues.
• Guests must be able to walk over paved, gravel and uneven surfaces, several on inclines.
• The minimum age for alcohol consumption is 21 years old.
Minimum participation age is 4 years old. Children under 8 must be in a car seat that the parent provides.

Excursion FAQ

Cancellation

• Your ship arrives into port late and you cannot make it in time to the meeting location (we will verify with the tour operator).
• Your ship skips/misses the port.
• Weather conditions or equipment failure prevents the operator from running the excursion.
• A medical problem prevents you from safely participating in the excursion (we will verify with the excursion operator and the guest may send doctor's note). This applies to individuals only and not the remainder of the group.
  
• Cancellations/deposit refund requests that do not comply with the above may not be subject to refund.
• Refunds may be subject to a service charge fee as determined by the payment processor, please refer to Terms and Conditions for more information.
