After pickup at your Ketchikan Alaska cruise pier, you will take a short ride to the floating dock where your DeHavilland Beaver awaits (there are several other planes in the fleet) . After meeting your pilot and climbing up into the plane, sit back as the state of the art headphones allow you to enjoy this fully narrated tour by air. Taking off from the water you will bank over the Tongass Narrows and head for the nearby mountains covered with rainforest.
Your 30-minute flight to George Inlet Lodge will bring you over the mountains to the far uninhabited side of Revillagigedo Island. Keep your eyes and cameras focused as you look down on logging camps, secluded mining towns, high altitude lakes, and native communities. As you crest breathtaking peaks, look for mountain goats lounging on a rock outcropping or black bears foraging for fresh berries.
George Inlet Lodge is an old cannery bunkhouse near Hyder; it was moved here by barge and has served anglers and travelers ever since. It is rich with history, artifacts and a cozy ambiance. For the outdoorsman, this just may be paradise.
You are welcomed with an Alaskan Amber beer, white wine, or soda and smoked salmon served by the fireplace. After making your way to the dining room, enjoy an Oriental salad with romaine and mandarin oranges before the main course. You cannot help but lick your lips as the steaming hot Dungeness crab hits the table. The fresh crab is paired with clarified butter and baby red potatoes for the perfect Alaskan local meal. Save room for cheesecake, smothered in Alaskan blueberries to end this Ketchikan treat.
You will then have some free time to relax and enjoy the breathtaking scenery of George Inlet. Sit by the fire, stroll the dock, or browse through the small gift shop and maybe pickup one of their famous t-shirts. You will then board your van transportation for the 45-minute drive back to town and your Ketchikan cruise ship pier.

Review of our Alaska excursion
The flight was spectacular with incomparable views. Glaciers, mountains, rainforest, waterfalls, seems like Alaska has it all. When we made it to Georges Lodge for our crabfeast we were able to explore the area and met Joseph who invited us a beer and told us about the area and his family. We have some similarities since we both come from native families and had a lot to share. We began our crabfeast and the food kept on coming. It was the best meal during our trip. We felt welcomed and met some great people during this trip and we plan to return.
