You really feel like you are the star of a timeless romantic film when you take a stroll through Central Park, perhaps due to the tree-lined pathways or the carriages drawn by horses. On the other hand, maybe it is the fact that Central Park has been the filming location of hundreds of movies throughout the history of film.

More than 30 film and television filming locations are featured on the unique Central Park TV & Movies Sites walking tour. Spend an entertaining and intriguing two hours walking through the most filmed location in the world, America’s first public park.

You will meet your guide at a centrally located location in New York's Central Park. After getting signed in, you will be led along the sidewalks of Central Park where you will see many of the spots were both famous TV and movies were filmed.

This excursion is led by real actors and actresses; featuring locations from New York Stories, The Producers, Trainwreck, Little Manhattan, Taxi Driver, Crocodile Dundee, The Way We Were, Wall Street, Prisoner of Second Avenue, Barefoot in the Park, The Out of Towners, King of New York, Prisoner of Second Avenue, New York Stories, Independence Day, Godspell, as well as many others. The pace is slow and do not forget your camera!

Visit famous landmarks in Central Park such as The Dairy, Cherry Hill, Bow Bridge, Gapstow Bridge, Sheep’s Meadow, the Skyline of the Upper West Side and Wollman Rink.

As you meander through Central Park you will see the stone Gapstow Bridge, which is seen on Home Alone 2. See the famous 19 story Plaza Hotel from the bridge, which was in many films such as Barefoot in the Park, It Could Happen to You, Almost Famous, The Way We Were, Crocodile Dundee, Brewster’s Millions, Big Business, and King of New York. Afterward head towards one of two skating rinks that are in Central Park, the Wollman Skating Rink. Wollman’s was shown in Home Alone 2, Love Story, Stepmom, Serendipity and The January Man.

Next, you will walk to the Mall, which is also known as the Promenade. See for yourself why this area is so well known for relaxing and socializing. Vanilla Sky, Big Daddy, Serendipity, Kramer vs. Kramer, Breakfast at Tiffany’s are all movies that featured scenes shot in the Promenade.

Spot the Bethesda Terrace after your walk through the Promenade, where the well known Bethesda Fountain resides. Recognize where scenes from films such as Green Card, Deconstructing Harry, Stuart Little II, Home Alone 2, Ransom, Out of Towners, Godspell, Prisoner of Second Avenue and It Could Happen to You were shot. “That’s How You Know” the big musical number from Ench, was also filmed on the Bethesda Terra.

Central Park’s largest body of water, not including the Reservoir, occupies twenty-two acres. Row boating is just one activity that you can see people enjoying on a warm day. This famous lake is where the Manchurian Candidate was featured. See the location of the Boathouse Restaurant, where you can return after the walking excursion for a bite to eat at the famous eatery, just like the characters in Sex and the City, Little Manhattan and When Harry Met Sally.

Find yourself mid-park near 74th street and follow your guide as you continue on your way to Bow Bridge. Seen in films such as Keeping the Faith, Little Manhattan, Woody Allen’s Manhattan, Autumn in New York, and The Way We Were. This cast iron bridge reaches over the lake and directly to Cherry Hill. During the springtime you will view the Cherry Tree blossoms in full bloom and feel as if you are an extra in the scenes from Big Daddy, Little Manhattan, The Mirror Has Two Faces and Cruel Intentions.

After you have seen Cherry Hill, you will be guided to a famous cultural landmark, the Bandshell, featured in I’m Not Rappaport, Hair, Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Mighty Aphrodite. You can see where many musicians have conducted performances and where Martin Luther King spoke.

Next, you will be led to the area set aside in honor of musician John Lennon, Strawberry Fields. John Lennon’s death in 1980 affected thousands of people. In 1985 this small section of the park between 71st and 74th street on the west side was dedicated is a tribute to his music and life. Strawberry Fields is also seen in the film Little Manhattan.

After viewing Strawberry Fields you will move on towards Sheep’s Meadow, a spot used in The Fisher King, Little Manhattan, Wall Street, Antz and It Could Happen to You. Although there are no longer actual sheep in Sheep’s Meadow you will be surprised by the hundreds of people playing Frisbee, reading, sunbathing and relaxing in the grass of this wonderful park. From Sheep’s Meadow you will have a view of The Dakota, which debuted in Vanilla Sky and Rosemary’s Baby. It is also the site of the shooting of John Lennon. Nearing the end of the excursion you will arrive at Tavern on the Green, a famous restaurant featured in New York Stories, Made, Ghostbusters, The Out of Towners and Wall Street. End your excursion where scenes from Keeping the Faith, Ghostbusters, Crocodile Dundee, Enchanted, Taxi Driver and Borat were shot, Columbus Circle.

Your fun walking excursion of the filming locations in Central Park will conclude at the southwest corner of the park. You may take a taxi back at your leisure and expense.

A separate voucher will be emailed to you. This voucher must be printed and presented to the local operator in order to do the excursion. This excursion is non-refundable.
