Your friendly, English speaking Roatan dive cruise excursion staff will greet you outside your Roatan cruise terminal (Coxen Hole and Port of Roatan Mahogany Bay) and get you on your way. The departure time is 7:30 AM local Roatan time, we ask everyone to meet 10 minutes before departure. The drive to the Dive Center is a short 20 minute ride from the pier at the city center (Coxen Hole) and about 30 minutes from the pier at Mahogany Bay (transportation time 1 hour R/T).
After a brief orientation at the Dive Shore Excursion Center where you will be introduced to your Dive Masters. They will assist you with your dive gear and take you out to your dive excursion boat. Our four dive boats are purpose built for diving on the reef and hold up between 6 to 20 divers. Your Roatan SCUBA Dive Cruise Excursion group will have a maximum of 8 divers per dive master.
On-board, the dive team will offer assistance with equipment setup and go over the dive plan for each group. The travel time to reach the dive sites is less than 10 minutes, as the Barrier Reef is very close to the shore. There are many wonderful sites with amazing plateaus beginning at 20-40ft/6-12mts. Both dives are on the largest barrier reef system in the Northern Hemisphere. This particular area of the reef system you will be diving is extremely healthy and in pristine condition.
The dive excursion sites are known for their abundance of beautiful corals and extraordinary reef formations, creating astonishing swim-throughs, and ledges. Common marine life experienced on these dives includes turtles, lobsters, stingrays, nurse sharks, eels, king crabs, and barracuda, as well as a variety of tropical reef fish such as damsels, butterfly fish, pork fish, parrot fish and schools of Creole wrasse and blue tangs. Lion Fish have also invaded the Caribbean in recent years, so have your cameras ready to take photos of these amazing colorful predators as they proudly display their plumes.
In between dives, fruit, cookies and beverages will be served on the boat. After the second dive, the boat will take you back to the dive shop pier. From start to finish, your 2 tank dive will be approximately 3.5 to 4 hours.
As if the spectacular diving shore excursion in Roatan wasn't enough, you will also have access to the gorgeous 5 Star Mayan Princess Beach Resort for a beach break. You may use the lounge chairs, pool, beach area, restroom, showers, etc. Food and beverages are not included but may be purchased.
The transportation will have you back at the pier one hour before your ship's departure or you can return to your ship at any time and at own expense.
