This Cartagena excursion is perfect and specially designed for those guests who enjoy nature, animals, fishing, the natural environment, community tourism, and a delicious lunch by the sea! Join us and discover the true colors of Colombia like never before!
Your day begins right at your cruise ship terminal, your friendly excursion guide will lead you to your transportation, and will take you to the municipality of La Boquilla which is located 20 minutes from the city, where the mangrove forests and the Ciénaga de la Virgen are.
Once you get there, the locals will receive you in a handmade canoe with a maximum capacity for 5 people, (if there are more people in your group, then 2 or more canoes will be assigned). You will navigate the shallow waters of the swamp, through the tunnels formed naturally by the branches and roots of mangrove trees, you will learn about the 3 types that make the tunnels (Grey, red, and black).
Let yourself be amazed by the ecosystem that fills with life the mangroves, you will find crabs, oysters, birds, raccoons, fish, and other animals that work together to maintain the delicate balance of this magnificent place. During the mangrove exploration, you will arrive at a lagoon where the fishing show will take place. You will have the opportunity to cast the net as the locals have done for 400 years! Be prepared to get wet and take amazing pictures!
At the end of your day, you will walk to a cabin where you will have a delicious lunch in front of the sea waiting for you. Taste some of their traditional flavors and when you are ready, your professional guide will take you to your comfortable transportation to go back to your cruise terminal!
Where we meet
For your Cartagena Canoe Mangrove Ride Excursion, you will meet directly at your Cartagena cruise terminal. All necessary details will be printed on your Electronic Shore Excursion Ticket.
Cancellation
For the Cartagena Canoe Mangrove Ride Excursion, we issue full refund for your deposit or full payment to us if: Canceled by client prior to excursion date with a minimum of 24 hours prior notice by email to reservations@shoreexcursioneer.com.
For cancellation reasons below, you must contact us via email within 14 days after your excursion:
- Your ship arrives into port late and you cannot make it in time to the meeting location (we will verify with the tour operator).
- Your ship skips/misses the port.
- Weather conditions or equipment failure prevents the operator from running the excursion.
- A medical problem prevents you from safely participating in the excursion (we will verify with the excursion operator and the guest may send doctor's note). This applies to individuals only and not the remainder of the group.
- Cancellations/deposit refund requests that do not comply with the above may not be subject to refund.
- Refunds may be subject to a service charge fee as determined by the payment processor, please refer to Terms and Conditions for more information.
