Whether you are looking for an adventure before or after your cruise, or simply in town exploring, tap into the darker side of New Orleans and enjoy this Cemetery and Voodoo Excursion.
This is a fun option to do whether you are visiting New Orleans on vacation or if you are in the city before or after a cruise. You will meet at a conveniently located spot where your guide will be waiting. This is a slow paced walking excursion. Once everyone is checked in, your guide will lead the group to your first destination.
The St. Louis Cemetery #1 is the oldest and most famous. It was opened in 1789, replacing the city's older St. Peter Cemetery (no longer in existence) as the main burial ground with a redesign of the city after a fire in 1788. Many famous and infamous people were laid to rest here. Your guide will tell you tales and the history behind both the cemetery and its residents. You will hear why the tombs and graves are above ground and see some of the more unique ones.
You can make a wish or cast a spell at the tomb of Marie Laveau - the Voodoo Queen of New Orleans - and discover how she was able to be in two places at once. You will listen to the evolution of Voodoo - still practiced today - and explore the role it played in the history of the Crescent City. Your guide can point out where the voodoo shop is located if you want to pop in and take a look around.
Strange as it seems, this will be an unforgettable time you will want to share with others for years to come!
At the end of the excursion, you can wander around or head back to your hotel or cruise ship at your leisure and own expense.
A voucher will be sent in a separate email than your e-ticket. Please read the voucher for any special information or requirements. This voucher must be printed and present it to the local operator. Without the voucher in hand, you will not be allowed to do the excursion.
Where we meet
For the New Orleans Cemetery and VooDoo Excursion, you will meet after a short taxi ride from your cruise terminal. All necessary details will be printed on your Electronic Shore Excursion Ticket.
Cancellation
For the New Orleans Cemetery and Voodoo Excursion, we issue full refund for your deposit or full payment to us if: Canceled by client prior to excursion date with a minimum of 24 hours prior notice by email to reservations@shoreexcursioneer.com.
For cancellation reasons below, you must contact us via email within 14 days after your excursion:
- Your ship arrives into port late and you cannot make it in time to the meeting location (we will verify with the tour operator).
- Your ship skips/misses the port.
- Weather conditions or equipment failure prevents the operator from running the excursion.
- A medical problem prevents you from safely participating in the excursion (we will verify with the excursion operator and the guest may send doctor's note). This applies to individuals only and not the remainder of the group.
- Cancellations/deposit refund requests that do not comply with the above may not be subject to refund.
- Refunds may be subject to a service charge fee as determined by the payment processor, please refer to Terms and Conditions for more information.
