Description

  • 2 hour guided French Quarter Walking Excursion!
  • Knowledgeable, local guides!
  • See the Historic Jackson Square!
  • Visit the New Orleans Pharmacy Museum!
  • Stroll through the French Market!

With Its famous nickname, the "Big Easy," New Orleans is known for its round-the-clock nightlife, vibrant live-music scene and spicy, unique cuisine reflecting its history as a melting pot of French, African and American cultures. The festive spirit of the city is located right in the heart of the city in what is known as The French Quarter. Beyond the celebratory atmosphere, there is a rich history that you do not want to miss.

Whether you are looking for an adventure before or after your cruise, or simply in town exploring, you do not want to miss the French Quarter. Follow in the footsteps of historic figures as you stroll along the Mighty Mississippi through the French Market and Jackson Square, down the banquettes (sidewalks) of quaint streets named for saints and sinners from our European past.

Feel the spirit of Mardi Gras as you walk down some of the same streets the parades travel. Experience the sounds of jazz, the tantalizing smells from the cajun restaurants and stop to purchase a famous Hurricane to quench your thirst.

See the old Quarter come to life as a local expert explains its secrets and rich history, exploring the architecture, courtyards, food, music, art, and gardens. Enjoy a visit to the New Orleans Pharmacy Museum, an old apothecary shop, constructed for the first licensed pharmacist in the United States. Here you will learn about yellow fever, voodoo, and the often grisly medical practices of the 19th century, such as leeches and bloodletting.

Your tour will conclude under the shady comfort of the newly renovated courtyard. Here you will experience some of the healing power of a medicinal herb garden, so take some time and just breathe! When your walking excursion is completed, you can make your way back to your hotel or cruise ship at your leisure and own expense.

A voucher will be sent in a separate email than your e-ticket. Please read the voucher for any special information or requirements. This voucher must be printed and present it to the local operator. Without the voucher in hand, you will not be allowed to do the excursion.

What a great experience! The French Quarter has it all, including the famous Bourbon Street, great restaurants, great bars, friendly people, live music, old-world charm, and it is all packed full of history and local stories. A must-see when visiting New Orleans in my opinion.

We really enjoy taking this tour, but could easily see how it could even have been a longer duration. The French Quarter has it all in one, food, art, live music, history. But you have to stop the fun at some point! Great value, great tour. This was the perfect beginning of our vacation and will highly recommend to our friends family and friends.
