Enjoy this land and sea combo during your stop on the Caribbean island of St. Lucia. Drive up Morne Fortune hill for spectacular views and on to Pigeon Island for your snorkel and beach experience.

You'll meet your English-speaking guide outside of your St. Lucia cruise ship port and begin your excursion in air-conditioned comfort. Castries is the capital city and its sheltered harbor hosts cargo vessels, ferry boats, and cruise ships. Head up Morne Fortune - the Hill of Luck – for spectacular panoramic views of the north end of the island, Castries and, on a clear day you can spy the neighboring island of Martinique. Monte Fort was built on the hill by the French and, in several battles with the English, it changed hands many times before the independence of St.Lucia in 1979. The original fort still stands on the summit along with the old military buildings.

On your way to Pigeon Island for your snorkeling and beach portion of the excursion, you'll pass through several quaint villages. In the historical battles between the French and English, many forts were built on the island. Pirates used the island to lie in wait to plunder passing Spanish Galleons filled with treasures.

The island is joined to the mainland by a causeway and is dominated by 2 peaks - the Pitons. This 44-acre park is a historical area operated by the Saint Lucia National Trust. This living museum has 2 beautiful beaches perfect for swimming or snorkeling. Your guides will pass out your gear, show you how to use it and then lead the group into the warm water. The guided snorkel excursion is off the beach so be on the lookout for turtles, tropical fish, coral, and other colorful sea creatures. Snorkelers of all levels are welcome. You can choose not to snorkel and just stay on the beach. You'll have the use of lounge chairs, shower, restroom and changing facilities. There's time after your snorkel to explore the island, hike up to the fort or enjoy some rays on the beach.

At the end of your excursion, you will be returned to your St. Lucia cruise terminal. Delight in this excursion of the Windward island of St. Lucia on the gorgeous Caribbean Sea. Take home memories of the history of the island and the beauty living beneath the waves.

I really enjoyed this excursion. It has everything; We had some sightseeing on the travel way to the pigeon island. Our guide always made sure to point out important spots and was very informative about the details. When we arrive on the island we were instructed on how to wear the gear and it was quite easy; the snorkel on that day was awesome, the water is so clear and clean. Our time at the beach was enough to get dry and continue our way. 4 hours of pure fun.
