A true taste of Dalmatia! Come and enjoy the beauty of nature while savoring some of its tastiest treats. Sumptuous oysters and aromatic, classically-styled wines will make this an unforgettable Dalmatian excursion out of Dubrovnik. This tantalizing excursion will stimulate your senses and soothe your soul.
You will meet your professional, local guide after a 5-minute walk from your Dubrovnik cruise pier where you will board comfortable transportation for the short one-hour drive to the famous Ston Saltworks (salt fields). The tradition of harvesting salt has been passed on for over 4000 years. The method of salt production has not changed over the centuries and the salt of this area has excellent quality. The history of the area includes the building of a fortress to protect the city. After a small briefing outside the saltworks, you will have approximately 20 - 30 minutes to explore the area and take some amazing pictures.
You will board again your comfortable transportation and your driver will take you to the town of Small Ston, a place that is very well known for its oyster farms that date back to the 17th century. Here you will sample some of the finest oysters in the world. Have your cameras ready for a short visit to the Ston walls, providing an amazing view of Big Ston, on the other side of the peninsula where your small group is headed next.
Upon arrival in Big Ston, you will enjoy a short walk through the Old Town enjoying the spectacular architecture. Your next stop is an award-winning winery with a breathtaking view of the ancient Ston Saltworks and plentiful vineyards dotting the Peljesac Peninsula across the water. On your way to sample several favorite local wines, you will enjoy stories and anecdotes of local legends and regional history from your knowledgeable guide/driver. You will taste 3 different wines - a red, wine and rose.
After your 30-minute visit to the winery, your guide will suggest some amazing restaurants with traditional cuisine where you can feast on a freshly prepared lunch (not included, at your own expense). Any place you choose is a winner and you will have approximately one hour to enjoy your lunch or maybe wander around the beautiful medieval city of Ston.
As your adventure comes to a close you will be returned to your Dubrovnik cruise terminal where you can board your ship or continue to explore at your own leisure.
Taste of Dalmatia! Enjoy your day at the Peljesac Peninsula, famous for having one of the world's tastiest mussels and oysters. It is also known for the countless grapevine plantations and wine production. The delicate combination of these culinary treasures comes together in one delectable day.
