Dubrovnik Excursions & Dubrovnik Shore Excursions:
The UNESCO World Heritage Site port city of Dubrovnik Croatia is small in size, but big in history. There is much to see and many Dubrovnik Excursions to do in the picturesque city, so get out and enjoy!
Like many of the small towns along the Mediterranean, Dubrovnik bounced back and forth under the ownership of its latest conqueror. Dubrovnik's wealth came from the seafaring trade. Dubrovnik merchants traveled from India to America under a white flag that stood for not conquering, but trading.
The first thing people see when approaching Dubrovnik are the impressive city walls. Built between the 12th to 17th centuries, the current day walls reach a height of 82 feet in some areas and are between 16 – 20 feet thick. No trip to Dubrovnik is complete without a walk on the walls. Inside the walls, there is a treasure trove of sites not to be missed. Check out our Dubrovnik Old Town and City Walls Sightseeing Excursion for having a once in a lifetime experience.
While on our Dubrovnik Best of Highlights Sightseeing Excursion you will get to learn more about the Pearl of the Adriatic. The Stradun is the main pedestrian street of Dubrovnik and runs from the Pile Gate to Luza Square where the city clock tower stands watch. The Rectors Palace was the seat of power during the time of the Republic. Nearby is the Sponza Palace which has seen duty as a mint, armory and customs house. Also in this area are Rolands Column, the Church of St. Blaise (Dubrovnik's Patron Saint) and the Cathedral. We offer an excursion on a private basis as well, please see our Dubrovnik Best of Highlights Private Sightseeing Excursion.
The Franciscan monastery's cloister has pillars with detailed animal and human faces. It is home to the small pharmacy museum and Europe's oldest pharmacy still in service. Near the Pile Gate is Big Onofrije’s Fountain, built in the 15th century to supply fresh water inside the city. The Synagogue (Now a 2 room museum) is the second oldest in Europe.
Just outside the walls are the imposing Lovrijenac Fortress, and the cable car which will give you lofty views down on the Pearl of the Adriatic. Enjoy our Dubrovnik Cable Car and Walking Excursion or our Dubrovnik Buggy Safari and Cable Car Excursion for taking in great panoramic views.
Outside the city you have the charming seaside resort of Cavtat which will be visited while on our Dubrovnik Private Cavtat and City Sightseeing Excursion; Ston and its famous walls, the picture-perfect fishing village of Mlini, and rural Konavle with its centuries-old mills, farmhouses and wineries.
