For our Ketchikan Silent Off-Road Buggy Rainforest Family Adventure Excursion you will be met right in the center of downtown Ketchikan by your electric ATV buggy guide who will then take you on a 20-minute informative ride to the thriving community of Ward Cove, just outside of Ketchikan, where your Electric Bad Boy Buggy is waiting. The shore excursion staff will give you an introduction to your top modern all-terrain vehicle and a safety briefing before assigning you to your automatic drive, 4-passenger rainforest buggy. One of the unique features of these fun vehicles is that they are silent so guests travel through the rainforest without interrupting nature!

Then set off on a scenic 45-minute all-terrain buggy journey (each buggy is equipped with interconnected radio) to experience the beauty of the Alaskan Rainforest, away from the crowded cruise ship shore excursions. You will savor the opportunity to smell, touch, and truly feel the beauty of the old-growth forest from your family-friendly open-air ATV buggy instead of closed up in a bus. Your electric Bad Boy Buggy family adventure excursion guide will educate you via two-way radios about the local history, culture of the area, and some of the trees, including Sitka spruce, western hemlock, and western red cedar that you are driving under. Closer to the ground are blueberry, salmonberry, and huckleberry bushes that provide fresh treats to the many birds and occasionally black bears that dine on them. Soon you will arrive at a wilderness campsite.

Here, you will have the opportunity to sit around a campfire, roast a marshmallow, (of course chocolate and graham crackers will be nearby) eat some pancakes with local blueberries in them or drink some hot chocolate while you learn about the nearby Lake Connell Dam and its amazing construction feat. Lake Connell dam was built in the 1950s and the lake it formed is now a popular destination for nature study and trout fishing. The total time at the campsite is approximately 30 minutes.

The 30-minute return to base camp is via the historic Connell Lake wooden pipeline trail. This is a great Ketchikan adventure cruise excursion for the whole family, from great-grandma to grandkids. It is also ideal for folks with limited mobility who want to experience the rainforest but have a difficult time walking.

Arriving back at the buggy shore excursion base camp, you will board your transportation for the 20-minute ride back to downtown Ketchikan and the cruise ship docks.

Please note that this excursion is restricted for Disney Cruise Line on Saturdays only; on other days Disney guests can book.

Excursion Notes

• The ride in the buggy can be bumpy based on weather conditions. Guests with neck, back, or hip ailments and pregnant women should not participate in this excursion.
  
• Guests must be able to step up into/out of the buggy.
  
• Restroom facilities are available at the campsite and are basic.
  
• Guests in groups smaller than 4, who want their own buggy, must purchase the additional seats in the vehicle at the adult price.
  
• Please pay attention to the restrictions and requirements for this excursion, no refund will be granted if the requirements are not met.
  
• We recommend wearing layers with the top layer being waterproof.
• Please wear sensible walking/hiking shoes that may get wet.
  
• We suggest you have cash on hand for refreshments, excursion staff gratuities, shopping, etc.
  

Where we meet

For this Ketchikan Off-Road Buggy Rainforest Family Adventure Excursion, you will meet your local excursion guide right in the Ketchikan cruise pier area. All necessary details will be printed on your Electronic Shore Excursion Ticket.

Excursion Restrictions

• The minimum participation age is 2 years old. Guests must weigh a minimum of 40lbs (18Kg) to be buckled into the seatbelt. Maximum weight is 350lbs (158Kg).
• The minimum driving age is 25 years old and must present a valid driver's license or other proof of age.
• Driver must be able to hear and understand English.
• Maximum of 4 guests per buggy and all eligible guests will have a chance to drive. Parties under three will share a buggy.
• The excursion route may change due to weather variations.
• As the ride can become bumpy, this excursion is not recommended for guests with any neck, back, or spine issues, or who are pregnant.
• This Ketchikan Silent Off Road Buggy Rainforest Family Adventure Excursion may involve risks. We suggest you check with your elected person of choice to see if these possible risks might affect you.

Excursion FAQ

Cancellation

• Your ship arrives into port late and you cannot make it in time to the meeting location (we will verify with the tour operator).
• Your ship skips/misses the port.
• Weather conditions or equipment failure prevents the operator from running the excursion.
• A medical problem prevents you from safely participating in the excursion (we will verify with the excursion operator and the guest may send doctor's note). This applies to individuals only and not the remainder of the group.
  
• Cancellations/deposit refund requests that do not comply with the above may not be subject to refund.
• Refunds may be subject to a service charge fee as determined by the payment processor, please refer to Terms and Conditions for more information.
