After transferring from your Ketchikan cruise ship pier to the Jeep excursion base camp approximately 20 minutes away, you will be paired with traveling companions in small groups of four, and begin the adventure into the mountainous roads of the Tongass National Forest. All jeeps are automatic-drive too!

The route takes you through the Alaskan lush rainforest, and up mountain roads to view the beautiful scenery. Using a two-way radio, your group leader and jeep excursion guide will provide you with interesting and informative commentary along the way. You will also be able to interact with the guide and other jeeps with your CB radio. Learn about the timber industry's reforestation methods while driving through old as well as new-growth forests. Excursion stops are made for some fantastic views, photo opportunities, and an opportunity to change drivers if you wish. The total time with the jeeps is approximately 90 minutes.

The Jeep portion of your Ketchikan Jeep and Canoe Cruise Excursion comes to an end at Lake Harriet Hunt. Here, you will board your large, easy-to-paddle, guided canoe, and experience a uniquely Alaskan and Ketchikan ecosystem from the water. After approximately 40 minutes of paddling, you will meet your expert safari shore excursion guide on the other side of the lake for a 20-minute nature walk through an old-growth forest to a remote camp where you will stop for an Alaskan snack for 15 minutes.

Then, return to the safari excursion base camp where your transportation will be waiting to take you on the 30-minute drive back to Ketchikan and your cruise ship terminal. Bring your camera and a driver's license on this unique Ketchikan Cruise Shore Excursion by Jeep and Canoe!

Our Ketchikan excursion allowed us to enjoy the magnificence of the forest without feeling cold or bugs. That is what we needed for traveling with kids (7 and 9). The jeeps are in good condition. We saw some eagles and deers. The canoe was cold but fun and just like 20 minutes, not a big issue for the children. The snacks were included and ok.

Overall this was a fun excursion. But if you're out to see wildlife in Alaska, this one is not for you. We started off on a drive into the mountains to a small lake. At the small lake we boarded a big canoe and canoed across. Across the lake we had some soup and did a small hike in the woods. It was ok, nothing spectacular. For the jeep we loaded up and did some offroading. Nothing to see just lots of rough roads. It was a lot of fun driving the jeep and we laughed the whole time. But if you're expecting to see something, this is not for you.

Living in a busy city and 3 days traveling by cruise this was a perfect getaway that also allowed us to explore the country side and enjoy a serene canoeing adventure. We had never done anything similar and always looking to try new adventures and this was one of those new adventures. (Tour operator) were fantastic from the moment we greeted them and Eric was a terrific guide. The Jeeps are in great condition and fun to drive in bumpy roads but no need to go fast since there is a lot of wildlife surrounding the forest. The canoeing was my favorite . Such a soothing experience and we saw sea otters and the eagles would fly above us. The snack consisted of hot cocoa and baked salmon! It was a great trip and I think it allowed us to understand the Alaskan lifestyle which is very rustic.

Incredible scenery! As the tour Guide told us, we were lucky to get a bright sunny day after a long rainy week in Ketchikan. This is a remarkable experience, starting by the fantastic customer service booking online, great tour guides, transportation was on a terrific condition. The jeep driving was fun and the scenery was spectacular. It is not a rough off road experience, though. Bumpy yes, but extreme no. Our favorite part was the canoe, get the chance to gather all the family in just one. Thank you!!!
