Sip, sample, and see Nassau! You'll be driven from site to site in comfortable excursion transportation accompanied by an experienced Nassau Food Excursion guide. With both a pickup and a drop off at your Nassau cruise ship pier, you can be assured that all you'll need to do is enjoy the day in the Bahamas.

This Nassau Food Excursion begins when you walk just a few steps away from your Nassau cruise ship terminal. There you'll be met by your cruise excursion guide, receive an orientation, and climb aboard your comfortable, and air-conditioned transportation to Arawak Cay, just 5 minutes away.

At Arawak Cay, you have the chance to visit Drifters Restaurant where you'll be able to enjoy conch fritters and lemonade. There will be a demonstration of cracking open fresh conch and preparation of conch salad that you will get to sample. You'll also enjoy seeing artifacts and pictures of the old Nassau. You'll have approximately 30 minutes in Arawak Cay.

Your next stop will be at the historic Fort Charlotte, just 5 minutes away. The fort rangers will take you on a 20-minute walkabout while giving you information about the history of the fort. If you are lucky enough to visit on a Wednesday or Friday you might catch the reenactment of British soldiers preparing for battle and shooting blanks on the antique cannons.

On the 10-minute ride to your next stop at Tasty Tea's Bush Teas, you will have a panoramic view of the Veteran's and the St. Agnes Cemeteries. There you will have a chance to sip a variety of teas and learn a little about how Bahamians relied on the bush to cure ailments back in the day. There will be time to make purchases if you desire. You will be at Tasty Teas for close to half an hour.

About ten minutes away you will have the opportunity to taste the world-renowned rum cake at the Rum Cake Factory. Traditionally a holiday time cake, Rum Cake is the best in The Bahamas. The Rum Cake Factory has exotic varieties like coconut, pina colada, and chocolate. Cakes are baked on-site and guests are able to watch the process of baking thru packaging and labeling. Samples of each variety are provided. You are welcome to purchase your favorite! You will spend close to half an hour at the factory.

Then you're off for a ten-minute ride to Fort Montagu. Have your camera ready as you'll see the Paradise Island Bridge and the Sir Sidney Poitier Bridge and will be given information about both. You'll also see Potters Cay Dock, which is a market by day and a happy hour hangout at night.

Then you'll arrive at Fort Montagu Cay, drive around the perimeter and see the architecture from 1742. Although much smaller than Fort Charlotte, it was considered quite formidable in its day. You'll have a chance to stop for photos for about ten minutes.

Then you'll head off to Fort Montagu Park for a quick sample of a concoction called a Gully Wash. This is made by a coconut being sliced open, the water inside is mixed with gin and is considered a local favorite.

Then you'll hop back on board your Nassau Food Tasting Excursion transportation for the short 10-minute ride to Drifters for lunch. You'll have a sample plate that will include tamarind glazed wings, coconut-infused peas, and rice, Caribbean coleslaw, fried plantains, and bottled water. You'll have quite the view and close to an hour to relax and enjoy these unique foods. Other food and beverages may be purchased at the guest's expense.

After lunch, you'll be driven back to your Nassau Bahamas cruise ship pier, just ten minutes away.

Our guides, Sandi and Keith were the nicest people and I am very grateful to have spent the day with them! From the moment we were picked up, their kindness showed through and their knowledge of the Bahamas was amazing! They answered every question and shared so much valuable information. All the stops were fun and beautiful. The excursion exceeded my expectations.

We had wonderful guides in a comfortable air conditioned van and had a great experience. We accidentally left rum cakes we had purchased in the van, and they got them back to us.

My husband and I booked this excursion for our recent cruise. I couldn’t remember what this tour entailed and was interested to see how the day unfolded. We met our driver, Keith, and tour guide, Dwight, at a very easy to find location once leaving the ship and joined 2 other couples, which we didn’t know, on this amazing adventure. Dwight and Keith were very welcoming and you could tell immediately that they loved where they lived. During the tour, Dwight shared with us many historical facts about the Bahamas while pointing out many points of interest as we went along. He was extremely entertaining in his delivery of all of this and made it truly fun. Keith was an extremely conscientious driver, which was great, given the narrow roads. The van that we travelled in was very nice and clean. They had a step stool to assist with all of us getting in and out of the van. Our first stop was Under Da Bridge, a row of small businesses carrying local food. We were met by the fabulous Cici and welcomed into her establishment. Dwight taught us about conchs and we were treated to fabulous conch fritters and conch tropical salad, whipped up by CiCi, using the fresh conchs we had obtained while there. YUMMY! We then went to Fort Montagu where we were met by Veronica. She enthralled us with her amazing and animated presentation on the fort and its history. Veronica was absolutely AMAZING. We were also treated to Sky Juice while we were there. It was an tasty drink with coconut water and rum. We also visited a rum cake factory where we were invited to try samples. I was amazed to learn that they do over 1,500 rum cakes there a day. Next we were treated to a visit to a tea shop. We enjoyed samples of teas and an explanation of the different types they carried. Sasha was very nice. The last stop of the day was for lunch at Drifters by the Fry (I hope that is the exact name). All I can say is it far surpassed anything I could have expected. From the atmosphere, drink (which was a refreshing, non-alcoholic concoction), to the food, we were not disappointed. We had never had swai fish before and it was fabulous. There was enough food for all of us and everyone at the table consistently repeated how amazing it was. It was also great that Dwight took care of us during lunch as well. In between all of these stops, we were free to ask questions about what we were seeing and about the Bahamas in general. I loved learning about so much of the history from Dwight and Keith. Even though we didn’t know the two other couples on the trip, by the end we all seemed like old chums, which was nice when your spending the day with strangers. We were delivered back to our stop in perfect time to get back on the ship without feeling rushed. I assure you, when you take this tour, you will not be disappointed at all! Simply amazing from beginning to end.

My wife and I booked this excursion for our last cruise. The communications was great. No issues about what, where or when. Dwight was at the meeting place right on time. We chatted for a few minutes then after the other 3 guests arrived, we jumped in the van with Miss Sandi and we were off. Both Sandi and Dwight gave useful information and insights into the history of Nassau and the Bahamas in general. If you take this trip...pay attention, because the tour is interactive. There will be a quiz! I was made an honorary Bahamian for the day. We stopped Under da bridge for a lesson in conch. 2 conch shells were used in the preparation of a delicious conch salad and conch fritters. My wife removed the conch from one of the shells and helped cut it up and served me the "conch pistol"! A short time later we checked out Fort Montagu for more history. A very Small, but effective fortification. On to the Rum Cake factory for samples...sampling turned into purchasing!!! Very Tasty!!! Next Stop Tasty Teas for some natural remedies. The guide there gave us information on various teas that were supposed to treat differing ailments. Really eye opening. The last stop on the tour was Drifters At Da Fish Fry on Arawak Cay. Delicious lunch and more conversation and information. Overall the tour was perfect. The right amount of time and activity for us. I can't say more about Dwight and Sandi, they were both amazing. Really wonderful people!!! Funny, and fun loving with a wealth of knowledge and a love for their country.
