Nawiliwili Excursions & Nawiliwili Shore Excursions, Kauai, Hawaii
Full of lush green landscapes, tropical rain forests, natural wonders and quaint historic towns, a visit to Kauai, the Garden Isle, is unforgettable. Whether arriving into the cruise port of Nawiliwili as part of your Hawaii Cruise or staying on an extended vacation, you are sure to enjoy your time.
The port of Nawiliwili is located outside the largest city on the island of Kauai, Lihue. Tucked in the southeastern corner of the island, there is much to explore and see during your visit. Unlike some of the other Hawaiian islands, Kauai is only 3% developed. There are numerous National Parks, waterfalls, cliffs, dramatic mountain peaks and more for you to see. The landscape may seem familiar to you as it has been used in many Hollywood movies. You might even spot some of the famous Nene geese that make the area their home. Check out our selected list of Nawiliwili Excursions such as our Kauai Traditional Luau and Polynesian Show Excursion!
Kauai Island is actually part of the 137 islands that make up the state of Hawaii. The islands are all part of the Pacific Ring of Fire and were created by volcanic action rising from the sea floor. They were first settled by Polynesians, who traveled by handmade rafts from the deeper South Pacific around 1000 AD. The first European contact is recorded by Capt. James Cook in 1778. The islands joined together under King Kamehameha the Great and formed the Kingdom of Hawaii in 1810. In 1959, Hawaii became the 50th state of the United States of America.
Getting out to see the countryside is one of the main attractions or Nawiliwili Shore Excursions. On many to-do lists is a boat ride up the Wailua River to see the Fern Grotto. The ceiling of this unusual rock cave-like structure is covered with thousands of ferns growing upside down. The Daniel K. Inouye Lighthouse is another popular site situated on the dramatic cliffs with the waves crashing below. The quaint town of Hanalei is home to many taro root farms. Check out our Kauai Exclusive North and East Coast Excursion that will show you some of the best sites of Kauai or of course the famous Kauai Waimea Canyon and Fern Grotto Excursion.
Kauai is also blessed with many great beaches including Anini and Kealia for strolling, tanning and watching the water sports. With the great reefs and crystal clear water, snorkeling and diving are very popular.
