An exclusive adventure excursion packed with adrenaline from riding your ATV through the jungle, river crossing, and along the beach to seeing the famed giant American Crocodiles on a boat safari!

You'll be picked up at your Puerto Caldera cruise ship pier to start your adventure in this amazing country. You'll be driven to the base camp in an air-conditioned new deluxe vehicle or minibus. Relax while you take in the diversity of the plantations of mango, coffee, sugarcane, and citrus trees. Along the route are many fruit stands and farming communities. Your drive takes you along the Central Pacific Coast past the Tarcoles River and Carara Adventure Park, a biological reserve turned National Park. You'll arrive at a private property about 1 hour from the Puntarenas Pier. On arrival, you'll have use of the restrooms and some time to explore on your own. Before heading off on your ATV adventure, you'll be given operation and safety instructions, necessary gear, and a test drive on a specially designed private track.

Your guided adventure takes you through the jungle past teak plantations, 14 exciting river crossings (things will get bumpy), on dirt paths, through the life-giving rain forests, past several viewpoints with spectacular panoramas, and 2 of the coast's gorgeous beaches. If the weather allows at Bochinche Beach you can have a quick swim. The beach is made of coffee-colored sand and loose stone and has gentle waves lapping the shore. It's a virtually private beach.

After your 2-hour ATV adventure, you will be driven to the Tarcoles River. Get your camera ready for the 1-hour eco boat cruise that takes you along the river through the jungle. The river is home to huge American crocodiles and over 50 species of migratory birds. You'll see crocodiles, scarlet macaws, howler monkeys, large iguanas, and birds like the egret and heron, plus much more. Included in the excursion are bottled water along the trails and river, and fresh seasonal tropical fruits at the end of your adventure.

Excursion Notes

• We recommend that you wear your swimsuit under comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes, a change of clothes, insect repellent, sun protection, sunglasses, a towel, etc. A shower is available at the camp.
  
• Bring along USD cash for balance payment, entrance fees, tips, souvenirs, etc.
  
• A credit card is required as a guarantee for ATV liability.

Where we meet

Excursion Restrictions

• The minimum age to participate in this excursion is 5 years old.
• The minimum age to drive an ATV is 18 years old.
• For all drivers it is necessary to present your valid driver's license.
• The maximum weight for single riding is 265lbs (120 Kg) / double riding is 395lbs (180 Kg).
• Guests under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent participating in the excursion.
• This excursion is not recommended for guests with mobility issues.
• This excursion is not wheelchair accessible or friendly.

Excursion FAQ

Cancellation

• Your ship arrives into port late and you cannot make it in time to the meeting location (we will verify with the tour operator).
• Your ship skips/misses the port.
• Weather conditions or equipment failure prevents the operator from running the excursion.
• A medical problem prevents you from safely participating in the excursion (we will verify with the excursion operator and the guest may send doctor's note). This applies to individuals only and not the remainder of the group.
  
• Cancellations/deposit refund requests that do not comply with the above may not be subject to refund.
• Refunds may be subject to a service charge fee as determined by the payment processor, please refer to Terms and Conditions for more information.
