Your day will be filled with spectacular views and highlights of Antigua City which begins right outside your ship. Your guide will pick you up and get you onboard the air-conditioned transport.  Then you are off to see some incredible city sights and scenic views including the famous volcanoes and sugar plantations. This excursion is limited to a maximum of 10 guests.

Driving through the city of Antigua, you will see numerous examples of the Spanish Baroque-influenced architecture and colonial church ruins that date back to the 1500's. The city has earned a UNESCO World Heritage Site award due to its cultural importance.

Once in Antigua City, your friendly guide will lead you on a 3-hour soft walk tour along the must-see places. You will get to see La Merced Church, one of the most important churches in Antigua. Keep your camera handy to capture the Santa Catalina Arch. Built in the 17th century, originally it was connected to the convent of Santa Catalina, allowing the cloistered nuns to pass from one building to the other without going out on the street. Then it is time to appreciate The Cathedral of San Jose which once was one of the largest in Central America. You will even get to visit the famous Jade Factory where you will learn about the local mining and production of jade.

After you will have time to enjoy a traditional lunch (included if you selected the option on the price chart) or choose one of the many restaurants on Santa Catalina Arch Avenue. Your guide can make suggestions if you would like. There will also be time to do some browsing and shopping where you will find everything from locally hand-crafted items, souvenirs, and also fine examples of the well-renown brightly colored handwoven textiles!

Your guide will take you back to the Puerto Quetzal port at the end of this Guatemala cruise shore excursion.

Note that there is a minimum of 2 guests needed to run this excursion to Antigua City. Private excursions or Groups of 10 or more can also be accommodated - Please contact us.

Good Tour

Tour didn't start well as we had to wait for late arrivals, close to 60 minute delay. Van was comfortable, driver drove safely. Tour guide was informative, providing information as we moved ahead & stopped for us to take pictures of volcano. City tour was good & informative but could have been more in depth at main points of visit. Provided lunch was good but that was the end of the tour, could have been longer. Another group that left at same time us did not return until at least an hour later and said they saw more.

We highly recommend this tour. The guide was very knowledgeable, polite and friendly. He and the driver took very good care of use. We chose to have lunch included and that too was delicious, a good sample of Guatemala food.

Booked this last minute and had fun. I think we expected a little more about the entire port of call as our cruise line praised this destination a lot, but at the end we are happy with the experience. Listening to other cruisers, I think our tour was far more enjoyable. That was our first south caribbean cruise and we be back!

We were very happy that we did this tour for our day in port. The guides were waiting for us when we got there and we got some very good photos on the drive there. The landscapes are amazing with the volcanos, the hillsides, the city and especially the local people in colorful embroidered dress. Some of our best shop are framed and up in our office now. The city was beautiful and gives you a feel of being in an European city with the lovely architecture, buildings and stone streets. With the assistance and advice of our guide, we found the most unique things while shopping. We really enjoyed our time in Antigua.

Great tour, we had a blast and visited so many sites. The best thing is, we paid half of what they asked for at the shore excursion desk on the ship lol!

We loved our day in Antigua. It is such a beautiful city with history rich buildings and streets. The people there are very, very friendly. We did some shopping and found some of the most colorful blankets we have ever seen.....could not resist. This tour was worth the time to take. We think all would enjoy it. Just a tip...aways "ask" the locals if it is okay to take their photos. They are very private and asking with a simple shoulder shrug and pointing to the camera is considered courteous.

We had searched for something interesting to do when our ship went to Guatemala. This excursion was the winner. Our guide was one of the nicest and most informative people in any of our ports. He is a native to the area but spoke English very well. Having grown up in the area, he was able to give us an insiders view on everything. The city of Antigua was very nice, quiet and extremely clean. I would truly enjoy doing this again.
