This Private Jeep Shore Excursion in Cozumel is one of the best ways to get to know the highlights of this unique Mexican-Caribbean island! You choose what to see and where to go! Possibly explore the Ecological Park of Punta Sur, snorkel at an exclusive beach club or just circle the island? Or maybe visit the chocolate factory! You pick the itinerary and then follow your private guide while driving your own 4x4 Jeep Wrangler Convertible.

Note: There is a minimum of 2 adults needed for your private excursion.

Your Private Jeep Cruise Excursion in Cozumel begins right outside your cruise ship's terminal in Cozumel. Your friendly private Jeep shore excursion guide will greet you and take you to your Jeep Wrangler vehicle (Jeeps will be standard stick shift unless you request automatic - use the comment box on your order form). You can chose the suggested itinerary below or customize your very own private Cozumel Jeep excursion with your guide. Remember, this is your private guide and jeep for the day!

After setting the plan, your bilingual jeep excursion guide will give you a short briefing about "how to drive" around the city and some security measures. Your valid US drivers license is required for all drivers - minimum age to drive is 21 years old. The driving is on paved roads.

The "typical" Jeep excursion itinerary will have you following the shore excursion guide on the cross-island road (also known as "transversal"), then heading south. Discover the best beaches in Cozumel and miles of virgin coastline, while you drive along the uncivilized east coast of Cozumel, natural white sandy beaches, rocky shore, blowholes and turquoise water. Your Private Cozumel Jeep Excursion guide will show you the best picture spots along the road - don't forget your camera!

Your next destination could be famous Punta Sur Eco Park, the largest national ecological reserve in Cozumel. Note that adults must pay the entrance fee of approximately $11.00 USD per participant at the gate. The first stop inside the park is to watch the crocodiles in their natural habitat from a safe lookout tower. You can spot exotic birds and wild flora everywhere. Next you will visit the Caracol Mayan ruin, a small construction that despite of its size was an important development of the Mayan civilization and served as a weather station. Don´t forget to climb the historic Celarain Lighthouse and enjoy the spectacular panoramic views of the Mexican Caribbean sea!

As part of the regular Private Jeep Cruise Excursion in Cozumel, you will stop for a 45 minute guided snorkel tour at Punta Sur (keep in mind, you can chose the itinerary and activities during this private shore excursion). The reef is shallow and easy to access, ideal even for beginner snorkelers to feel comfortable and safe at all times. All necessary snorkel equipment will be provided. You may spot parrot fish, yellow-ribbon fish, Sargent mayor fish and sea turtles among other local Cozumel marine life. If guests choose not to go to Punta Sur, the snorkeling will take place at Tortuga's Beach Club. Located within the Chankanaab Marine Park boundries, the shallow snorkeling is outstanding! Enjoy your delicious choices of fajitas, tacos or quesadillas - chicken, beef or fish. Drinks may be purchased at an additional charge during lunch.

Want to do something different? Try an informative visit to the Chocolate Factory. Or maybe switch out the visit to Punta Sur for a walk through San Gervasio Mayan Ruins, a relaxing horseback ride and fun ATV excursion (available at an additional cost - options to discuss with your guide).

You have the options to customize your excursion with a stop at El Cedral or you may even drive around downtown San Miguel and take pictures of the beautiful monuments, churches and fountains of the city or stop for some shopping. Your Jeep shore excursion ends when your guide takes you back to the meeting point from where it is just a short walk back to your cruise ship after a day full of fun, memories and gorgeous landscapes.

Traveling with little ones? No worries...infants under the age of 3 ride free! Car seats are also available at no extra cost (first come, first serve - 2 available).

Note that the snorkel and lunch spot may be changed to the westside depending on weather and water conditions.

We booked this trip after I resurched for month until I thought I found what we were looking for. Roberto our tour guide did not disappoint, he was amazing. We had a little trouble meeting up but that’s only because of us being unfamiliar with the meeting area we just kept asking until someone pointed us in the right direction and Raberto was there waiting for us. Carnival does a great job promoting their sponcered trips but if you book an outside company your pretty much on your own to figure out where you need to be but the locals are mostly happy to point you in the right direction. Once we met we walked a couple blocks to our Jeep. We started off snorkeling which was right in town but we were all amazed how beautiful the fish were right off shore. We were allowed to go at our own pace which was very nice. I have MD and with my husbands help was able to enjoy this adventure with my family just a few steps to maneuver to see the beauty of the sea. Next we went to a very yummy lunch tried some local beer which my husband and son enjoyed. Nice family with a local atmosphere. Then we went to the tequila tasting which was fun and very informative last we set out for punta sur Park...breathtakingly beautiful drive and visit. We have been in many cruise excursions and this one is at the top of the list for us. Don’t be afraid to book with private companies while cruising the local companies accomadate just as well as sponsored cruise companies. I know I’m spelling Roberto’s name wrong and I’m sorry but we really recommend this tour if your looking for a fun wind in your hair Jeep tour.

We just returned from our cruise, took my wife and two girls 8 & 10. We loved it, I can't say enough how awesome our guide was. Ask for Julio, hands down he was the best. He catered to us the whole day, we all felt like VIPs in the island. I am a history major and when we visited Punta Sure he was super informative, as well as during the tequila tour. FYI even with young kids do the tour it does not take long and the Tequila is amazing, even if you hate Tequila. For lunch we went to a restaurant off the beaten path and were the only ones there. Julio also made a stop at an awesome dive bar right on the coast for a Mexican Mojito, which was awesome and the view was like a postcard. Julio made our entire vacation we still talk about the tour as if it was the entire cruise. Thank you Julio!

We meet our guide not too far from port, we felt safe walking the block and half to meet them. Our guide was Julio and he was super nice and let us do what we wanted in our own time. He never rushed us or made us feel hurried. I felt Bad when his car broke down but he did not bat an eye and jumped in to our Jeep and off we went! He took us to some truly amazing and gorgeous places! I mean Just breath taking! Ask for Julio and you would’t Be disappointment. For $70 a person we got so much. The Jeep looked nice but you could tell they have been ran to death but really what do you expect when random people are driving your stuff everyday. P.S. he made sure we had water every time we stopped and i thought That was great since we had my parents and 8 year old daughter and it was hot did not want them to get over heated!!

This Jeep excursion was so much fun! The directions were pretty clear where to find the (meeting point). Once we were their our Guide Lalo was awesome! He explained what we would do and tailored the excursion to our needs. The jeeps were excellent condition and exceeded what we expected. We ask for an automatic and it was waiting for us. Lalo was very friendly and did any excellent job explaining the mayan culture and ruins to us. This was my family's first time snorkeling, they took care us and made sure we had a wonderful time. Lunch was good as well. If you go to Cozumel you must take this excursion!!!

My husband and I just took a trip to cozumel for our 4th anniversary. We decided to book an excursion. On our own before we left for the cruise. I found your site when researching things to do in cozumel and took a chance and booked it!!! I am happy to say we were not disappointed!!!! Our jeep tour and guide Claudia was the absolute best we could hoped for. She worked with us to customize a tour that would fit our taste and it did just that!!! We went off the beaten path shopped at authentic Mexican huts, drank the most amazing mojitos, swam in the most beautiful clear blue water cozumel had to offer. I would definetily recommend this excursion to anyone looking for a unique personal experience while in cozumel!!! Ask for Claudia she was truly a blessing and knew all the great places to see!!!

Our guide, Clemente was very knowledgeable and provided a lot of information about the island. We really enjoyed the whole excursion. We visited different points of interest, rode the coastline, spent time at the beach, stopped for frozen treats, did the tequila tasting/tour, visited Punta Sur, enjoyed lunch at a restaurant on the water. We were provided with ice cold drinks throughout the tour. He also was our photographer for the day and took some really good pictures for us. Clemente was a great guide, I would definitely recommend him!!

First, we've done Cozumel by jeep before - and we loved that trip, too, but this was much more fun. First Eric Macias is a wonderful tour guide. He spent time with us before starting out, learning what we wanted to see and planning our adventure. The meeting point was easy to find and another guide helped us connect with Eric. Second, Eric knew so much about the island and you could see how much it meant to him to share this wonderful place with us. Third, Cozumel is a beautiful place with amazing food and really, really good tequila. The private tour lets you spend the time you want at each destination and not feel rushed or herded. We were with a group tour last time and, although it was a lot of fun, this was better. We were not able to snorkel because of the conditions (we've had that before in Cozumel) but had an amazing lunch by the ocean. I would absolutely book this tour again next time I'm in Cozumel. Jeep was very nice, the ones on the group tour looked like they had been put back together with leftover parts...

We had some difficulty finding our tour guide. The directions were a bit vague. Be sure to bring cash, as the ATM charges about $25 for a $100 withdrawal. The jeep we got was very old -loose steering, gauges (including speedometer) didn't work, had a make-shift turn signal, and no working seat belts, and the suspension was very stiff. The jeep died on us twice. Our guide was great - very friendly and easy to understand. At first he wanted to take us to the tequila factory, but we don't drink. We told him the three places we wanted to see and he arranged the schedule so that we could see them. We went to the San Gervasio ruins, which were amazing. You are allowed to climb on them and there are lots of iguanas! This was not included in our tour price, so we had to pay $10 each extra to go in, but we were ok with it since this was high on our list of things we wanted to see. The guide stayed with the car while we went in ourselves. We then made a quick stop along the beach on the east side of the island for some photos, before heading to Punta Sur. We climbed the lighthouse - the views are amazing. From there we went the west side of the island for snorkeling and lunch. Snorkeling equipment is included, but bring your own towel. The guide swam with us with a paddle board for safety reasons. There are lockers available to rent for $5. The water is so clear and warm, and there were so many fish. We were a little disappointed that there wasn't much coral in this area. The beef and chicken fajitas were good. We were charged $5 for a can of soda and a water bottle. When we booked the excursion it said there would be a cooler full of cold drinks for us in the jeep, but none were provided. Overall it was a fantastic day and we would love to visit Cozumel again.

Hands Down The BEST Excursion!!!

We were a little anxious about booking a tour outside of the cruise line, but we are SO glad we did. It was AMAZING! Our guide was attentive, knowledgeable and very passionate about his country. He asked us before every stop if we wanted to go there, gave us several options, and even took us to a friend's pottery shop for some beautiful hand painted pottery! We stayed for as short or as long as we wanted at each stop and had an amazing time. The lunch was the best Mexican food I've ever eaten, and we were the only ones at the restaurant! When we went snorkeling, there were only about eight of us in the water and our guide dove down to show us some incredible things. Plus, this excursion costs at least half of what you'd spend through the cruise line, and in my experience, it's SO much better. We will definitely be booking again with you.
