After transferring 30 minutes from your Juneau cruise pier downtown to the Mendenhall Valley heliport, you will weigh/check in with the flightseeing excursion staff before boarding your helicopter. Seating will be based on the total weight of the shore excursion guests, (including clothes, shoes, and jacket), the helicopter can hold up to six guests. Then it is time to take off. Your experienced helicopter shore excursion pilot will lift off giving you views back toward Juneau and across the Mendenhall Valley.

In no time at all, you are over the enormous ice formations, looking down at deep blue crevasses and glistening ice rivers while turning your head back and forth for the once-in-a-lifetime views on either side.

Your helicopter sightseeing cruise excursion pilot will fly over the spectacular rock formations and icefalls of the Juneau Icefield as you head toward the Herbert, Taku, Lemon, or Norris Glacier. Depending on weather conditions, your skilled pilot will choose the best glacier to touch down on, so you can do a little ice exploration.

Upon reaching your excursion destination, your expert helicopter excursion pilot shuts down the helicopter and becomes your knowledgeable guide. They will escort you on an informative, relaxing walk across the glacier, giving you some details on your natural surroundings and the deep history of these immaculate ice formations. The snowshoes provided will give you an authentic Alaskan experience on the river of ice.

After approximately 20 minutes on the face of the glacier, you will climb aboard the shore excursion helicopter and head back to the heliport taking in this incredible landscape from above.

The helicopter flightseeing excursion portion lasts approximately one hour from the time it lifts off until it returns to the heliport, but will vary depending on which glacier your pilot determines to be the best on the day of your Juneau helicopter sightseeing excursion, based on weather and glacier conditions. The rest of the excursion duration consists of your transfers to/from the heliport and preflight check-in.

• Premium Passenger: Those weighing 300lb or more fully clothed. Must purchase 2 full seats.

• Guests must be able to climb in/out of the helicopter.
  
• Guests must be able to walk over rugged icy surfaces while exploring the glacier (frozen ice lake).
  
• Jackets, shoes with traction, gloves, and sunglasses are strongly recommended.
  
• Your weight includes the clothes, shoes, and jacket you are wearing on the day of the helicopter shore excursion.
  
• All guests will be weighed in at the heliport. Any guest over 300 pounds who is not holding an excursion ticket for "over 300 pounds" will be accommodated on a later flight if space is available. If space is not available, you will not be entitled to a refund.
  
• Please pay attention to the restrictions and requirements for this excursion, no refund will be granted if the requirements are not met.
  
• We recommend wearing layers with the top layer being waterproof.
• Please wear sensible walking/hiking shoes that may get wet.
  
• We suggest you have cash on hand for refreshments, fishing license(s), excursion staff gratuities, shopping, etc.

Where we meet

For this Juneau Helicopter Icefield Flightseeing Excursion, you will meet your local shore excursion staff right in the Juneau cruise pier area. All necessary details will be printed on your Electronic Shore Excursion Ticket.

Excursion Restrictions

• Passenger names and weights are required at the time of booking by the FAA for weight and balance calculations.
  
• To ensure the comfort of all travelers, passengers weighing between 260-299lbs (clothed weight) must pay an additional $150.00 to secure extra space in the helicopter aircraft (see excursion shopping cart options).
• To ensure the comfort of all travelers, passengers weighing 300+lbs (clothed weight) must pay an additional 2 seats.
• For safety, lap children are not allowed on the helicopter. All guests must be buckled into their own seats.
• There is a no-bag policy on all helicopters, if you have medical needs that require a carry-on, please contact us.
• All bags brought to the helicopter shore excursion base will be stored in the excursion office until you return from your flight.
• Pregnant women up to 10 weeks should check with their doctor before booking this excursion.
• Women 10 weeks or over should not participate in this Alaska shore excursion.

Excursion FAQ

Cancellation

• Your ship arrives into port late and you cannot make it in time to the meeting location (we will verify with the tour operator).
• Your ship skips/misses the port.
• Weather conditions or equipment failure prevents the operator from running the excursion.
• A medical problem prevents you from safely participating in the excursion (we will verify with the excursion operator and the guest may send doctor's note). This applies to individuals only and not the remainder of the group.
  
• Cancellations/deposit refund requests that do not comply with the above may not be subject to refund.
• Refunds may be subject to a service charge fee as determined by the payment processor, please refer to Terms and Conditions for more information.
