You will meet your guide at the Pizzeria located in Mercato Maggiore. The Mercato Maggiore is one of the most important squares in the historic center of Naples and is located 50 steps from the symbolic places of the historic center of Naples, such as the famous Sansevero Chapel, the "street of the cribs" and the Body of Naples. A place of profound cultural significance, where history and legends, sacred and profane, religion and science, mix together, inspiring the birth of this fascinating reality. The Pizzeria brings to life the combination of flavors old and new in its beautiful setting. Be part of history!

Dating back to the 16th century in Naples, pizza was born. It was first known as a dish for the poor and sold in the streets. The first ingredients were oil, tomatoes, or fish! History says that on June 11, 1889, the Neapolitan pizza maker Raffaele Esposito created a pizza in honor of visiting Queen Margherita of Savoy. The result is what is now known as the Pizza Margherita which is garnished with tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, and basil - the red, white, and green of the Italian flag!

Begin your experience with a cooking class. Your local professional pizzaiolo will guide you as you mix and knead the pizza dough to start your own pizza. You will be able to top it with your choice of the finest local ingredients. The professional pizza chefs (pizzaiolos) will slide it into the brick oven to cook while you wait for your pizza to cook. You will be seated and served a traditional Naples-style starter, the pizza creation you made, a soft drink, and a delicious dessert! If you wish, you will be able to purchase wine and beer at an additional expense.

At the conclusion of this amazing and unique gastronomic adventure, with your appetite more than satisfied, you may wander the Piazza and return to your cruise pier at your leisure and expense. Buon appetito!

Excursion Restrictions

• Minors under 18 years old must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
  
• This excursion is not available for guests with mobility issues and it is not wheelchair accessible due to the amount of standing and the preparation area.

Cancellation

• Your ship arrives into port late and you cannot make it in time to the meeting location (we will verify with the tour operator).
• Your ship skips/misses the port.
• Weather conditions or equipment failure prevents the operator from running the excursion.
• A medical problem prevents you from safely participating in the excursion (we will verify with the excursion operator and the guest may send doctor's note). This applies to individuals only and not the remainder of the group.
  
• Cancellations/deposit refund requests that do not comply with the above may not be subject to refund.
