A true adventure into the heart of Cozumel's jungle, this excursion will take you through 10 miles of off-road trails that lead to the Jade cenote, where you will have the opportunity to take a dip in the fresh water just like the Mayans. After your swim in the cenote, you will travel through an ancient coral cave. Be prepared for a wild ride and to get dirty on the Cozumel Jungle Xrail Buggy to Jade Cavern and Cenote Swim Excursion.
Once your ship has docked in Cozumel you will meet your guide at a nearby location. Be sure you have on clothes that you do not mind getting dirty, which is part of the fun! Your guide will take you to the shuttle for the 20 minute drive to the base camp, which is located in the oldest village on the island, El Cedral. Upon your arrival to base camp, the bi-lingual expert guides will show you all there is to know about operating the stick shift Buggy (there are no automatic buggies). You need to be 16 years of age with a valid driver's license to operate the buggies. After your safety briefing, you are off into the jungle, following your guide over the trails.
Under the canopy of the jungle, the guide will lead you through miles of trails until you arrive at Jade Cavern, which is a freshwater cenote. You can jump off the side of the cavern into the fresh water (with a life vest) to refresh yourself in the crisp cool freshwater. The roots of the trees above stretch down through the limestone rocks to their source of fresh water deep below, surrounded by strange shaped stalactites.
After your dip in the cenote hop back in your buggy and cruise off for a drive through the Coral Caves. Your guide will tell you all about the interesting history of the Mayan peoples as well as how the cenotes and caves were important to their survival. You will have the chance to stop for photo opportunities and to sip on bottled water.
Turn your buggies around and head back to base camp, where you can purchase your pictures, t-shirts, refreshments and more! Afterwards, the transportation will bring you back to your original meeting location.
Great off road adventure
Recommend this tour if you like off road adventure and don't mind getting dirty! The buggies were in good shape and easy to drive. I had fun
Show Management Response
We had a blast!
This was such a fun excursion! Although the buggies were stick shift, they were very easy to drive and our guide gave us a safety briefing before we began. We got to visit a secluded area in the island where there was plenty of space to go full speed and once we got to the cenotes, the water was clear and everyone decided to jump in.
