Never gone diving before but want to try SCUBA Diving? Come to join us on this beginner's course - Discover SCUBA Diving or also known as DSD. No prior experience and no dive certification are necessary.

The dive shop meeting place is just a short taxi ride from the pier. The PADI-certified dive instructor will be waiting for you. The first part of your excursion is a short theory study about the dive equipment, and how you will be able to breathe underwater, and let you test it all out. You will move into the water with the instructor to practice your skills. The maximum depth is only 30ft on either of the dives you will do.

Once the practice session is completed, your instructor will accompany you into the boat where you will head out for your second dive on a coral reef. Again your instructor will be by your side to assist and point out some of the incredible marine life - green sea turtles, lobsters, eagle rays and hundreds of small tropicals live on the reef. Your dive time is approximately 30 minutes for each dive.

If there are members that you are traveling with you that would like to accompany you to the beach, the dive shop is located at a beach club where they can relax and meet you afterward. Facilities there include a swimming pool, water toys, a restaurant/bar for purchases, etc. If any members of your group are certified divers, they may join along - see the information for the 2 Tank Certified Dive.

A local transportation company is used for pickup at the pier for this excursion. Cost is not included but is equal to taxi cost but will provide a more reliable service - $14.00 USD approximately.

What is included?

• Transportation cost is not included in this excursion, however, we use a private transportation company at the same cost as a local taxi however we can guarantee availability and quality of the transportation (20-minute ride) at $14.00usd round-trip, per person.
• All necessary equipment including classroom kit, snorkel equipment with mask, snorkel, and fins, BCD (inflatable diving jacket), weights, belt, regulator, and tank. 
• Bottled water throughout the Discover Scuba Diving Excursion. 
• Boats are equipped with a First Aid Kit and Oxygen Kit.
• There is an additional $ 3.00 USD Marine Park fee p/p that is paid in cash to the operator - not included in the excursion price. 

Excursion Notes

• Additional departure times are subject to availability, please contact us.
• Please bring along sunblock, swimsuit, towel, change of clothes, and cash for souvenirs, snacks, tips for transportation, etc.
• For your ride back to the cruise terminal, you may decide to drop off at a local beach, town, etc.
• The Dive Center location is at the beach and the beach club offers facilities such as a restaurant, bar, swimming pool, water sports, etc. Therefore, please bring along other people from your party that may not participate in the diving as they can enjoy the beach.
• The wet suit is available for rent at a cost of $5.00 USD.
• Please download and print the following PADI Discover Scuba® Diving Participant Statement (PDF document) and complete it prior to participation. It is required that you bring this completed form and any other required notes or paperwork.
• Please pay attention to the restrictions and requirements for this excursion, no refund will be granted if the requirements are not met.

Where we meet

For this St. Maarten Discover Beginners SCUBA Diving with Boat Dive Excursion, you will meet directly at your cruise terminal for private transportation to the SCUBA Dive Center. Transportation cost ($14.00 round trip per person) is not included in the price and has to be paid in cash upon arrival. The price is the same for a public taxi, with our transportation we guarantee availability and quality of service. All necessary details will be printed on your Electronic Shore Excursion Ticket.

Excursion Restrictions

• Guests must be in good health.
• Diving is subject to health restrictions, it is not recommended for guests with diabetes, asthma, heart problems, and women during pregnancy.
• We recommend asking your doctor if SCUBA diving is right for you. Your local operator will go over these details with you as well.
• The minimum participation age is 10 years old.
• Children must be accompanied by a participating adult or guardian.
• Guests under the influence of alcohol or drugs may not be able to participate and no refund will be granted in this situation.
• This St. Maarten Discover Beginners SCUBA Diving Excursion with Boat Dive may involve risks. We suggest you check with your elected person of choice to see if these possible risks might affect you.

Excursion FAQ

Cancellation

• Your ship arrives into port late and you cannot make it in time to the meeting location (we will verify with the tour operator).
• Your ship skips/misses the port.
• Weather conditions or equipment failure prevents the operator from running the excursion.
• A medical problem prevents you from safely participating in the excursion (we will verify with the excursion operator and the guest may send doctor's note). This applies to individuals only and not the remainder of the group.
  
• Cancellations/deposit refund requests that do not comply with the above may not be subject to refund.
• Refunds may be subject to a service charge fee as determined by the payment processor, please refer to Terms and Conditions for more information.
