You get the combination of a relaxing beach and the adrenaline of seeing planes passing just overhead as they are landing at the airport located feet from the beach. Note that the smaller planes usually land in the morning and the larger jets are late morning/noonish.
St. Maarten's Princess Juliana International Airport is located just off Maho Beach and the beach seems to be part of the runway. As the planes come in for a landing, the people gather to watch as they appear to be passing just out of arm's reach overhead. But all is safe as the planes land on the runway just across the roadway. It is something that has become synonymous with St. Maarten and Maho Beach.
As amazing as the landings are, you will be blown away by the take-offs! Watch as the planes come in or take off from the comfort of Sunset Beach Bar and enjoy some cold beverages or grab a bite to eat (food and drinks not included). Chairs and umbrellas are available for rent at the beach, at your own expense. While you are waiting for the landings or take-offs, you can relax on the beach, soak up some sun or swim in the freshwater pool while enjoying some local music. You have to see it to believe it!
Your excursion will also include stops at the scenic overlooks of Simpson Bay Marina and Harold Jack Hill where the views are incredible! Your guide will be with you and be giving you a narrative background of the island on your way back to Philipsburg.
You will have the choice of either going directly back to the pier or staying in town for shopping, dining, or more sightseeing and going back to the ship at your leisure. It is a 12-15 minute walk or taxi ride is approximately $3.00 USD - taxi cost not included.
Where we meet
For this St. Maarten Famous Maho Beach Break Excursion, depending if you are coming in by tender or dock at the pier in St. Maarten, you will meet just a 2-3 minute walk from where you arrive. All necessary details will be printed on your electronic shore excursion ticket.
Cancellation
For the St. Maarten Famous Maho Sunset Beach Blast Excursion, we issue full refund for your deposit or full payment to us if:
- You want to cancel at any time, for any reason, before or after your arrival. Simply contact us via email reservations@shoreexcursioneer.com within 14 days of your missed excursion date for a deposit refund.
- Your ship arrives into port late and you cannot make it in time to the meeting location.
- Your ship misses/skips the port.
- Weather conditions or equipment failure prevents the operator to run the excursion.
- A medical problem prevents you from safely participating in the excursion (we will verify with the tour operator or guest may send doctor's note).
- Cancellations that do not comply with the above may not be subject to refund. Guests must notify us within 14 days after their excursion date via email for requesting a refund of booking payment made to Shore Excursioneer.
- Refunds may be subject to a service charge fee as determined by the payment processor, please refer to Terms and Conditions for more information.
