Description

  • Air-conditioned, fully licensed, and insured Roatan shore excursion transportation!
  • Round-trip transportation from your Roatan cruise ship terminal (Coxen Hole and Port of Roatan Mahogany Bay)!
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) speaking snorkel shore excursion guides!
  • All snorkel equipment including mask, sterilized snorkel tube/mouthpiece, fins, and flotation vest (if required)!
  • Guided snorkel excursion at 3 different sites: French Cay Marine Park, Coco View Reef Wall, Prince Albert shipwreck, or Big French Cay!
  • No snorkeling experience is required!
  • Beach break on the northeast shore of Roatan!

Visit three of Roatan's most famous snorkel sites aboard a comfortable 30-foot-long boat on this unique snorkeling shore excursion in Roatan. After spending 30-40 minutes snorkeling at each excursion site, head to a beach club with full amenities to relax and soak up the sun.

Once you have arrived in Roatan you will meet your local English-speaking snorkel shore excursion guide right outside of your Roatan cruise ship pier. Then, board the transportation and relax for the quick 15-minute ride to French Cay. In French Cay, you will board your 30-foot-long boat, which accommodates up to 16 excursion guests comfortably. Soon you are off cruising over the turquoise blue water on your way to the snorkel sites.

Depending on weather conditions, you will visit three of the following four snorkel sites: French Key Marine Park, Coco View Reef Wall, Prince Albert Shipwreck, or Big French Key. All four sites are located near each other, so you will not have long waits between sites. The shore excursion captain will make the determination on which you will visit.

When you arrive at the first site, your Roatan snorkel excursion guide will pass out the snorkeling gear, show everyone how to use it, and then assist everyone into the water.

At all the sites you will have the opportunity to see large shoals of grunts, lobsters, lionfish, reef squid, butterfly fish, stingrays, and beautiful different colors and shapes of corals that your guide will help point out. Prince Albert is a 164-foot-long cargo ship that was sunk in 1985 to create a Scuba Diving sight and artificial reef. Since it was sunk a large variety of sponges and coral have begun to grow on the hull. The main deck is around 26 feet deep with a maximum depth of the hull at over 65 feet deep.

After snorkeling at three sites you travel to the northeast shore of Roatan to rest and relax for approximately 1 hour or so if you choose to (your guide will ask but it is up to you if you would like). You will find all amenities so you can eat, drink, and relax in total comfort (food and drinks are at your own expense). When your time at the beach is up your transportation will take you back to your Roatan cruise ship pier.

Great Experience!

We had the very best time with this tour from start to finish. Thanks to Charles, Richard, and Joe/Jim (sorry), I felt completely safe at all times. Charles drove us around Roatan, gave us interesting history and trivia of the islands, and took us to a beautiful place with no other tourists to eat. His suggestions were spot on! He was also very flexible and offered to take us anywhere we wanted to go. The snorkeling experience was outstanding even though the wind was too high to go to two spots. Richard was in the water right by our side at all times. He made sure that we all (four of us) stayed together and were not struggling with the roughness of the water. Jim offered to take us to the other two areas and let us attempt to snorkel or refund our money for places not attended. As the sea was a bit rough and we were exhausted from our first snorkel, Jim gave us as much boat time as we wanted and gave us a tour of the area while telling us all about the area. I recommend this tour 100% and can't wait to do it again.

Monik was so great! I instantly felt at ease the moment we met her. She was knowledgable, kind, and so easy to talk to! The snorkeling was very nice, but my favorite part was the beach at the end. My only wish is that we could have stayed at the beach for longer! Beautiful sandy beach with good shades.

This was such a great trip. We thought that we were going to have to share with other families, but it was just the five of us. They had everything we needed for snorkeling. The guides were very polite and accommodating. I grew up in the Florida Keys, so my expectations were low, but these reefs were much nicer then I anticipated. Absolutely beautiful. I would highly recommend to anyone. Would definitely book again.

Roatan Getaway Tours' driver picked us up and dropped us off at the pier, right where they said they would. At the dock and on the boat, Saul, Jim, Carlos and the rest were great! We went to some fantastic snorkel spots with living, colorful coral and lots of fish. We were in the area of Big French Cay and Fantasy Island on the south side of Roatan. Depths varied from a few feet to mostly 15' - 25' with ample coral structurs rising within a few feet of the surface in many areas, but there was a wall with a 500' drop off. There is also the wreck of the Prince Albert, still intact at 40' down. Wind was not entirely favorable on our excursion day, but Saul kept an eye on us and the waves turned out not to be an issue. We would not have missed this one for anything and will go back! Water is provided and snacks are available for sale at the pier. We used our own equipment, though they provide equipment if needed. This is adjacent to Sherman Arch's Iguana Farm which is fun if you want to see if you can work that in, too.

This was one of the best snorkeling that I have ever done. Our shuttle driver was exceptional, and the crew on the boat was amazing. I highly recommend this excursion. Shore excursioneer is a great company. I had to cancel one excursion, and book a different one. I received my deposit refund the same day I canceled. If you have second thoughts about using this website, don't!

Our 3 location Snorkeling excursion was a fantastic experience. The meeting with the tour group was easy and without incident The transfer to the snorkel boat went without a hitch, even though the main roadway had a mud slide the transfer was smooth and timely. Once at the boat the the crew was all very friendly and well organized. The snorkel site we visited we pristine. I am a PADI Divemaster and I have be diving in many locations and snorkeling was definitely one to remember. I will have to return with my dive gear. I would highly recommend this excursion.

I booked this excursion because I heard a lot of great things about snorkeling in Routan, well let me tell you we were not disappointed. First off we had a very friendly person named Kaitlyn drive us to the excursion. She was very informative of the history and things going on on the island. Then we met our boat captain Mr. James. He was very friendly and eager to show us a good time. We also met our guide Preston. Let me tell you this guy is amazing. Pointing out all the different species of fish, and let me tell you there were a lot. We never felt rushed or like it was just his job. He loved what he was doing and it made the trip even more special. After our third stop Mr. James took us by his Brothers and we got to see some amazing tarpon. His brother raises them to replenish what has been lost by over aggressive humans. Then we were back to the dock where our new driver Brandon graciously was taking us to the beach. After a day of snorkeling we opted for food, so he took us to one of his favorite spots. Lord the coconut shrimp he recommended were off the chain. Portion size was incredible and the flavor was just amazing. Then off to the ship. We made it back in plenty of time and were invited over and over again to come back. If it is within my power we will definitely be back. I would ask anyone to looking for an excursion to book with this group because they are awesome. Thanks everyone for such great memories.

This takes first place in all the snorkel spots we have ever visited... and we have seen a LOT!!! Over 35 cruises worth. Amazing coral, fish, boat, tour guides,... totally unbeatable!!! Make sure you do the 3 site snorkel. The first one is the best. I could go back once a week and never get tired of it. Words can't describe it. You have to see it for yourself! P.S. take pens...apparently they are a rare commodity down there.

This was an amazing excursion! The 5 of us in our group were the only ones on the tour for 2 of the 3 sites. We were picked up by Ronald who was so friendly and a wealth of information. We were taken to the boat for snorkeling and saw some amazing fish including a barracuda. On our last site, another group met up with us and told us about the monkey and sloth experience that they had done. Ronald said that if we were interested we could go there before the beach break or instead of it. We decided to skip the beach entirely and go see the sloths and monkeys. It was amazing. We got back to port just as planned. We were dropped right outside the shopping area. I definitely am planning to visit Mahogany Bay again very soon!

This is a family run business. Ronald picked us up right outside the port as the directions stated. He transported us to the East End of the island in a new Kia Sedona well maintained with good air conditioning. He even offered us an extra adventure at a monkey and sloth park for only $10/person that we opted in to do. First time ever that we got to hold a sloth and many other animals. This 3-site Snorkeling adventure took us to a site that you could stand at almost every point not needing to wear life vests and 2 deep water sites. The boat was new and had been built by the family. All snorkeling and life vest equipment was brand new. Our boat driver was the owner Ronald and our snorkeling guide Jimmy was amazing. He went above and beyond to make sure we saw all kinds of different marine life. The weather was not as cooperative as we would have liked with 18 knot winds but this company took great care of making sure we had a fantastic experience. This is a must do for anyone one who loves to snorkel from beginners to experienced snorkelers. This reef is the second largest in the world!!!! Highly recommend (Tour Operator) and Shore Excurssioneer.

Cruised on Norwegian, docked at Coxen Hole Cruise terminal. Followed directions provided to get out of terminal, and immediately was a young man holding good-sized (hard to miss) sign for (tour operator). Wonderful! Sometimes finding the independent tour provider can be a bit challenging, but this started things off right! I've already forgotten our driver/tour leaders name, but he was great! Walked with him a short distance, maybe 2 blocks, to where the SUV was parked. From there, a very short wait, and we were off. Small talk in the vehicle during the approximately 30 minute drive to a small dock at in the French Cay area of Roatan. Waited there about 5-7 minutes for the boat to pick us up. Boat was a fairly new, well maintained boat with seating for maybe as many as 12 people. There were 2 already onboard (from a Carnival Cruise), and then they picked the 5 in our party up. Short (5 minute) trip to our first snorkel site. It was a windy day, with a fair amount of wave action. But the drive/boat pilot positioned the boat well, and the guide (forgot his name too!) went in the water and guided us around first this site, then 2 other dive sites. These were excellent snorkel sites, with lots of fish, a few lobsters and sea cucumbers, and very nice reef life, with a reef that (seemed to us) was in very good condition. Whenever there was something interesting to point out, the guide would stop and explain to us about it, including picking up those things when appropriate, so we could get a better look/feel. The total time at the 3 sites was around 3 hours, which included transport time between the sites...they were all relatively close together, but were different in many ways. They were unable to take us to one site because of the wind and waves, but did substitute another area. Once this was done, the 2 from the Carnival ship left us (they had started earlier), and we were given several choices what we wanted to do. Originally, this was supposed to include a beach break, but we all decided that 3 hours snorkeling was enough sun for one day, and opted to have him take us to a local oceanfront dining establishment. Excellent service, nice relaxing views, and reasonably priced food and drink, some time relaxing oceanside, then back to the ship. Got back with plenty of time for shopping at the port, but if we had wanted, we could have stayed out longer. The guide and driver were both excellent, easy to understand, patient, and professional. They seemed genuinely concerned about our welfare/having a good time. We were all VERY pleased with this excursion and would recommend it to anyone.

From the minute we met Ronald holding a birthday sign for my sister until the end when Jimmy pulled out a birthday cake for her! They had planned every step of the day to be special for us. The weather was bad but they didn't let that stop us! Their boat is beautiful and their gear was in excellent condition! I honestly would have rather spent the week with them then getting back on the ship. I hope to visit them in the future! Highly recommend these two!!!

From start to finish this was an amazing excursion. We were met right outside the pier and our guide gave us some great background and culture of the island during our drive back and forth to the boat. Once we got to the sites one of the brothers stayed with the boat while the other got in the water and snorkeled with us giving us the names of the different marine life and pointing out things we would have missed otherwise. It allowed us to cover a lot of distance going point to point an being picked up after each section. The shipwreck was very cool and we were glad to see it since the water was very clear on our tour date. Since it was raining we opted to skip the beach break and were tired from so much amazing snorkeling. If you want great snorkeling take this tour you will love it.

Got off the ship and he was there waiting holding a sign, probably for a couple of hours. We walked to where his SUV was and headed for the boat. We were the only snorkelers that day and had a private tour in the rain. They treated us nice and the snorkeling was fantastic. Jim and James are the way to go. Nice Panga. They even took pics and there were waiting for us when we got home.

The 2 brothers, Jim & James were exceptional. One of them met us right outside the gate with our names on a large board. There were only 5 of us on the excursion--so different than the typical snorkel trip with 20+ people. This was my 1st time snorkeling the south side, French Cay area of Roatan. We did a drift snorkel for about 1 mile along the reef wall. As fishing is allowed in this area, there weren't a lot of fish in this stretch, but the coral was beautiful--so much variety. We then went to the French Key Marine Park where our guide pointed out so many interesting creatures. There was a large barracuda that hung around for pictures, a rare camouflage fish that walked on the ocean floor (frogfish?), a coral growing on a conch shell, lots of lobsters hiding out, an an anemone that is unattached (moves around), a ray & a cool rockfish that camouflage themselves so well that I wouldn't likely have seen them on my own. The beach break was at Parrot Tree Plantation. It was so quiet & beautiful with very few people. Drinks & food prices were reasonable. Bring bug repellent. I didn't feel getting bitten, but I got a lot of bites laying in the hammock. Jim & James were attentive to our needs, what we were interested in, & making the whole experience a lot of fun.

Was a little nervous of an outside excursion and was a little weird going outside the port to get picked up but turned out to be an amazing experience. My wife and I were the only 2 on the excursion that day so we were able interact with our guide Jim all day. Jim works along with his brother which picked us up and captained the boat. The snorkeling was unbelievable. We snorkeled at least a half mile of reef that day along with a ship wreck. We did not go on the beach break because of rain (our choice). Instead we went to a sloth and monkey activity nearby which was also awesome that Jims brother walked us over to. Both brothers were very knowledgeable and treated us like we were their friends or family. Cant thank both of them for the great experience. Do not hesitate to take a tour with these guys.

I put the day I spent with these two brothers in the top 10 best days of my life! I still don't know how I was the only passenger off of ship of four thousand to choose this excursion, but I was "queen for a day"! Ronald came to pick me up in a very clean, air conditioned van. He drove us to essentially where he grew up, so all along the way he told me about his island that he clearly loves. Then Jim, his brother took me snorkeling and never left my side, while Ronald never left the boat. I felt very safe and cared for the whole time. The three different stops were amazing, clear, and like another world. I felt like I was in a movie set, something created, because it was all so surreal. Jim shares all his knowledge of the reef life and takes pictures of you and the fish the whole time. I snorkeled for 3 hours, then Ronald took me to a nice resort for some beach time that had a great bar and good food. I pulled my chair into the water and sipped my "Cocoa Loco" and just soaked it in. Again, Ronald was always available if I needed him. These two brothers were so friendly and took care of me all day. I cannot thank them enough for their hospitality!

I am so glad my wife and I took this excursion. Jim and Preston were very friendly and well spoken. The water and the reefs were amazing. I have been snorkeling for 40 years and I have never experienced anything like this before. The topography of the reef was too amazing to describe. From this experience my wife and I want to move to Roatan. I was a little nervous about booking outside of the cruise line but I'm sure glad we did. One of the best things about this excursion is that they use a 4 stroke engine instead of a 2 stroke. The 4 stoke doesn't leave that oily taste in your mouth that normally leads to sea sickness and are much better for the environment. After over 3 hours of snorkeling I wish I would've brought my own mask and snorkel. They were very knowledgeable, they punctuation, and accommodating. The beach break was and added bonus to the trip. The beach we went to was like a natural pool and had beds and lough chairs on the beach. It also had a place to eat that had good food and friendly service. The facilities were well maintained. I will be returning to do this trip again.
