This excursion is for everyone who loves nature! You will have some time to play with the sloths and monkeys and then you will explore one of the amazing reefs Roatan has to offer. To finish your day you will have some time to relax at the beach.

You will meet your expert guide outside your Roatan cruise terminal where you will board air-conditioned transportation for the short 25-minute ride to Daniel Johnson's Monkey and Sloth Hangout. What started off as a hobby quickly grew to become a safe haven for injured or abandoned animals including sloths and monkeys. Upon your arrival, you will have 45 minutes to get up close and personal with resident sloths, monkeys and parrots as they attempt to charm you with their quirky personalities. This will be a great opportunity to capture some rare photos to share with friends and family back home. There are many other types of wildlife that now call Daniel Johnson's home including raccoons, and many native animals that are helping educate people on habitat, care, and conservation.

Next, you will have a short walk to the dock where you will get ready to explore the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean as your board a boat to snorkel at one of the closest reefs to French Cay. French Cay Marine Park, Coco View reef wall, Prince Albert shipwreck, or Big French Cay will be the available options based upon the current weather conditions. Your guide will provide instructions for the first timers and give your snorkel gear. They will show you how to use it and then assist anyone who needs it. Once in the water, your guide will be pointing the abundant marine life the reef has; from conch, lobsters, manta rays, and a great variety of tropical fish. Your snorkel time is approximately 1 hour.

Upon your return to the dock, you will be whisked away to the beautiful northeast shore of the island to enjoy the beautiful sandy beach at Las Palmas. There is a restaurant where food and drinks are available for purchase. Guests may use the beach chairs, umbrellas, as well as the restaurant/bar and restrooms. Chairs and umbrellas are on first come, first serve basis. Depending on the ship's departure time, you will have up to two full hours to bask in the sun and enjoy the crystal clear water of the Caribbean. We will make sure you are back to your port in time to board your ship and share your day in Roatan!

Beautiful place to go. Holding the sloth was a once in a lifetime experience. The monkeys can run and jump all over you while the guide feeds them. Very nice drift snorkeling. Ask for Sherman to be your guide for the day he was very knowledgeable and just an all around great tour guide.

Fantastic all around!

This excursion was the highlight of our 7 day cruise! Personal transportation and tour guide drove us in a comfortable van from the port to the various excursion locations. 6 in our party were treated to a visit to the monkey and sloth park where we had an "light" educational tour and had the opportunity to interact (with supervision) with a sloth, young monkeys, and parrots. We were then taken on a boat to the French Key where we had a personal guide for snorkeling. The snorkeling was beautiful and rich, and the snorkeling equipment was surprisingly good quality. Finally, our driver escorted us to a quiet private beach / resort where we sat in sun or shade, hammocks, lounge chairs, and umbrellaed tables and ordered drinks and lunch from the restaurant / bar. The locals that run and work this adventure are invested in offering a pleasing experience, and they did just that. It was also great to converse with our driver while we traveled, and to learn about life on this beautiful island. The quality and entertainment of this experience well exceeded the price. I highly recommend this excursion.

Best excursion in Rotan

The only issue with this excursion is getting to the meeting place outside the cruise terminal . Pay the $2 per person for the cab ride over the hill . You will be glad you did. Once you get to your bus it is all better from there. The sloth and monkey reserve was great. The snorkeling after was in calm and very clear fish filled waters. Afterwards they took us to a beach resort and it was beautiful . I'd vacation there if possible . Take cash though they will want to charge 10% fee for cards and the food at the resort was great , and reasonably priced. Best part of our vacation . If going to Rotan do this and Ask for Erickson , he was very attentive and helpful to my wife who suffers multiple back issues.

Great Price and Great Escursion

This was our second time going to Roatan and the second time booking through excursioneer. I have really enjoyed the excursions through excursioneer a lot better than Carnival excursions. Excursioneer excursions are not awhole lot of rushing from place to place like carnivals is. Our guide was Brandon and he pretty much stuck with us most of the day which to me and my group that made everything a little more personable knowing that if we needed to get back to the ship at any time, he was there to help us and he was very knowledgeable about the area. Everything was great, but I really enjoyed the snorkeling! We had a group of people that ranged from age 4 to age 65, where we snorkeled was shallow enough for most of us to be able to walk if they were not a strong swimmer. We had two children ages 4 and 8 and the guides that snorkeled with us worked with them a good bit making sure that the had a great time also. After the snorkel we were taken back to the beach to be able to grab a bite to eat or to swim for awhile. The eating place was alittle bit pricey however the food was great! And if you get in the water take notice of the flakes of gold when you pick up the sand. I would say that this was one of my favorite places to go!

Awesome excursion

We absolutely LOVED this excursion. First off our driver Ashley was an awesome tour guide on the way to the Sloth and Monkey's Park. Then we had the opportunity to hold a sloth, let monkeys climb all over us, and hold a few parrots. After that we walked a short distance to the boat and were greeted by Jim for a boat ride to the reefs. We got to snorkel for quite awhile. Afterwards we got brought back to our cruise ship and had time for some shopping.

Lots of FUN

We were a group of 7 plus a 2 1/2 year old. This was a good value for the excursion. We met our guide Ronald at the port after getting of NCL Pearl. We were taken to the Monkey and Sloth park which was fun, especially my 2 1/2 year old! We then were taken to the snorkel excursion to an area near French Key. Our guide Preston was fantastic. His love for the area was very apparent and he made sure we saw lots of things. He also took photos that were emailed to us. After the snorkel excursion, we were taken to a private beach. The beach was great, although the food and beer was over priced. Apparently the Parrot Plantation was not available that day. We had a great time. Our only concern is MAKE SURE your driver knows what time YOU want to return to the ship. We were tendering that day and we cut it too close for comfort. It was still a great excursion!!

two thumbs up

Had a great time. The sloths were so cute up close and personal. All the guides were very friendly and it was awesome to be able to hold the animals. The snorkel portion was also great especially if you have anyone not too strong in their swimming skills. The water was shallow enough but we were still able to see the reef and different fish, lobster, a conch and even a sea urchin. Our guides were very knowledgeable of the area and answered all our questions. Super friendly.

The highlight of our vacation!

This excursion was amazing, organized, and the best part of our trip! We got off our cruise ship in Roatan and walked to the meeting spot. The directions were clear and you do have to go out of the cruise port and walk a bit up a hill but it's not bad at all. When we came over the hill, you can see all the tour operators lined up. Our guide had a big sign with my full name and was easy to spot. We went right to the vehicle and got on our way with Ronald who was a wonderful guide. He was kind, knowledgeable, and easy to talk to. He answered all of our questions about island life on Roatan. At the park, you are given a guide to go through with. Interacting and holding the sloths was utterly amazing. They are so precious and they hang onto you like a tree so it seems like they are cuddling with you. They are just literally so cute and slow lol. We also got to interact with monkeys and parrots which was really fun also. We met back up with Ronald and to my surprise the 2nd part of the tour was right there by the sloth park. We boarded a boat and met Jim, Ronalds brother who does the snorkeling portion. We got all of our gear and motored out to the spot. Jim took us out for the best snorkeling trip! He showed us so many things and we saw so many fish and huge lobsters. We got to spend a lot of time out there, I never felt rushed. Jim took tons of pictures of us and the sea life, and e-mailed them back to us totally free of charge! At the end Ronald drove us right back to the cruise port. We were back by noon and still had 4 hours to explore the port or shops with no concerns what so ever about missing the ship! For my family, this excursion was amazing and we will never forget it!
